Arashiyama, gelegen in het westen van Kyoto, Japan, is een pittoreske wijk bekend om zijn natuurlijke schoonheid en cultureel erfgoed. Nishiki Market (錦市場), vaak “Kyoto’s Kitchen” genoemd, is een drukke, overdekte winkelstraat in het centrum van Kyoto die ongeveer 400 m loopt tussen de straten Takakura en Teramachi langs Nishikikoji. Met meer dan 100-130 kraampjes biedt het een fantastisch scala aan lokale producten, zeevruchten, augurken, snoep, tofu / yuba, keukengerei, messen, keramiek en straatsnacks
Gion (祇園) is de bekendste geishawijk van Kyoto, gelegen rond Shijo Avenue tussen het Yasaka-heiligdom in het oosten en de rivier de Kamo in het westen. Het is gevuld met winkels, restaurants en ochaya (theehuizen), waar geiko (Kyoto dialect voor geisha) en maiko (geiko leerlingen) vermaken.
Een van de bekendste tempels van Japan is Kiyomizudera, wat "Zuiver Water Tempel" betekent. Het kreeg zijn naam van het ongerepte water van de Otowa Waterval, die is gelegen op de beboste heuvels ten oosten van Kyoto, waar het werd opgericht in 780. De tempel richtte de Kita Hosso-sekte op in 1965 nadat hij eerst verbonden was met de Hosso-sekte, een van de oudste scholen van het Japanse boeddhisme. De tempel werd in 1994 opgenomen als UNESCO Werelderfgoed. Het meest opvallende kenmerk van Kiyomizudera is het houten podium, dat 13 meter boven de omliggende heuvel uitsteekt vanuit de grote zaal. Bezoekers kunnen vanaf het podium genieten van een aangenaam uitzicht op de vele kersen- en esdoornbomen beneden, die uitbarsten in een zee van kleur.
Fushimi Inari Taisha is een beroemd Shinto-heiligdom in Kyoto, Japan, gewijd aan Inari, de godheid van rijst, welvaart en zaken. Het is vooral bekend om zijn iconische Senbon Torii, een pad omzoomd met duizenden levendige rode torii-poorten die de heilige berg Inari beklimmen. Het heiligdom werd gesticht in de 8e eeuw en trekt bezoekers die zegeningen zoeken voor succes en geluk. De schilderachtige wandelpaden, vossenbeelden (Inari’s boodschappers) en panoramische uitzichten vanaf de berg maken Fushimi Inari een populaire en spiritueel belangrijke bestemming.

We stayed as a family during a round trip in Kyoto. We booked this day tour with Malik to get to the main sights in an uncomplicated way. Malik was a reliable local guide. He was able to provide information on all hotspots. We would book again! P.S. The vehicle was in impeccable condition and we were able to photograph from the car as well. Therefore, we cannot understand previous assessments in this regard.

We took a tour with Malik of Kyoto downtown area. I was quite demanding as we had a tour booked the next day that covered a lot of the sites he usually visits. It was heavy rain as well but we had an amazing time. He showed us the Higashiyama area before the other tourists arrived, The Emperor's Palace, and the stunning Sanjusangen Buddist temple. We had lunch in the market and then went onto The Gion Geisha area. He was knowledgeable and patient answering all of our questions about the Japanese culture. Thanks Malik for a great day.

Good way to visit important sights in a short time. Unfortunately, the car was equipped with blacked-out windows, which greatly impaired lateral visibility. On such a tour you also want to perceive the surroundings.
