Minneriya National Park, Maradankadawala-Habarana-Thirukkondaiadimadu Highway, 50150 Sri Lanka, richt zich op verantwoord toerisme en biedt onvergetelijke safari's in Hurulu Eco Park, Minneriya en Kaudulla National Park. Minneriya National Park is beroemd om zijn olifantenbijeenkomsten. Bezoekers kunnen grote kuddes olifanten zien samenkomen rond het Minneriya-meer om te eten en te baden. Daarnaast biedt het park mogelijkheden om safari’s te beleven, een verscheidenheid aan wilde dieren/vogels te bekijken en te genieten van prachtige landschappen. Je kunt je eigen tickets kopen als je het park betreedt, en ik kan je daarbij helpen. De safari duurt 3 - 4 uur, en je kunt er foto's van maken.

Minneriya National Park, gelegen in Sri Lanka’s noordelijke centrale provincie, is een wildreservaat dat beroemd is om zijn adembenemende landschap en buitengewone olifantenbijeenkomsten. Het park beslaat meer dan 8.800 hectare en is gebouwd rond de historische Minneriya Tank, een oud irrigatiereservoir aangelegd door koning Mahasen in de 3e eeuw na Christus. Deze waterbron speelt een cruciale rol in het behoud van het rijke ecosysteem van het park tijdens het lange droge seizoen. De belangrijkste aanspraak op roem van het park is de Great Elephant Gathering, die elk jaar tussen juli en september plaatsvindt. In deze periode migreren honderden wilde Aziatische olifanten vanuit de omliggende bossen naar de tank, en vormen zo een van de grootste wilde olifantencongregaties ter wereld. Bezoekers kunnen deze majestueuze wezens van dichtbij aanschouwen.

We did an afternoon safari to Minneryja NP with our family. It gets quite crowded this days (lots of jeeps). We saw a huge herd of elephants with some very young ones (1 month old). They came close to the vehicles, we also saw some of them bathing in the lake. The views of the lake were spectaculair and the afternoon colours are great for photos. The driver was acting cautious and didn't disturb the animals. It's a great experience seeing so many elephants together. We could definitively recommend the trip!

We had an exceptional time during this safari in Sri Lanka. Our driver was fantastic from start to finish. Very passionate, he took the time to show us all the wildlife in the park and explain the behavior of the different animals. We were lucky to observe a herd of elephants up close. The driver positioned the 4x4 perfectly, allowing us to experience a magical moment: the elephants passed very close to us! We also saw peacocks, sea eagles, jackals, monitor lizards, and a wide variety of birds. Throughout the safari, he took his time, never rushing us, so that we could fully enjoy each sighting. In addition to his professionalism, he kindly offered us drinks at the end of the excursion, a very appreciated gesture. An unforgettable experience that we recommend without hesitation to anyone wishing to discover the richness of Sri Lankan wildlife. Thank you again for this wonderful day!

Chanaka is a wonderful safari guide - we got to see a baby elephant (who rubbed himself against our car!). He's a very patient guide and makes sure you feel comfortable.

We had an amazing safari experience at Eco Park Hurulu Sigiriya. It was such a beautiful experience to see the animals in their natural habitat. Our guide was incredible — he knew exactly where to find the animals, always respected them and their space, and you could really see how much he enjoys his job. He was very kind, polite, respectful, and spoke English. We felt safe, comfortable, and truly enjoyed every moment of the safari. 100% recommended!
