Dit is niet zomaar een dagtour. het is een persoonlijke ervaring begeleid door een local die Sri Lanka graag deelt. Ik pas elke tour aan uw tempo en interesses aan, of u nu wilt verkennen, ontspannen of verborgen plekken wilt ontdekken die de meeste reizigers missen. Onderweg bezoeken we hoogtepunten als het zeeschildpaddenreservaat, de iconische paalvissers en het historische Galle Fort maar stoppen ook op kleine, authentieke plekjes die niet toeristisch zijn. Verwacht prachtige uitzichten, betekenisvolle verhalen en een ontspannen reis waar je je nooit gehaast voelt. Perfect voor koppels, gezinnen of iedereen die een echte en flexibele ervaring aan de zuidkust wil.

Je wordt opgehaald bij je hotel in Hikkaduwa, Dodanduwa, Ginthota, Galle, Unawatuna, Talpe of Koggala en transfer naar OLD DUTCH FORT GALLE. Het fort werd gebouwd om bescherming en behoud van de stad de Portugezen in het begin van de 16e eeuw te waarborgen en vervolgens uitgebreid versterkt door de Nederlanders in de 17e eeuw. Oorspronkelijk was het fort een aarden structuur met palissades, een wal en drie bastions en een gracht eromheen. Onder de controle van de Nederlanders bouwden ze onneembare vestingwerken met koraal en granietstenen en het fort leek op een klein aangelegd ommuurd stadje met een rechthoekig rasterpatroon van straten vol lage huizen met gevels en veranda's.
De volgende stop is de Japanse vredespagode, de vredespagode op Rumasalla Hill is een van de drie boeddhistische stoepa's in Sri Lanka. Stoepa's zijn monumenten die dienen als bakens van vrede voor mensen van alle nationaliteiten en geloofsovertuigingen, en het strakke, afgeronde ontwerp van de Unawatuna-pagode is hiervan een voorbeeld. Bezoekers kunnen het schaduwrijke pad naar de Peace Pagoda lopen of rijden en worden beloond met een torenhoge, witte klokachtige structuur, omringd door goudgeschilderde beelden. Sets van trappen leiden ook naar een loopbrug rondom het heiligdom dat een 360-graden uitzicht op de jungle en de baai biedt.
naar beneden geklommen in de richting van de ware bestemming van je dagtocht - Jungle Beach. Geen andere persoon in zicht, alleen twee stukken verlaten zand gevangen tussen de oceaan en Rumassala Rock. Dit strand had net de zielverruimende kreupelheid van Unawatuna ervaren en was precies wat we nodig hadden. Vrede, eenzaamheid en prachtige natuur.
Stilt Fishing is een van de meest interessante traditionele vismethoden van Sri Lanka. Uit gegevens blijkt dat het vlak na de Tweede Wereldoorlog is ontstaan. Deze manier van vissen werd meer gebruikt langs de hele kust tot de tsunami in 2004, waardoor dergelijke activiteiten tijdelijk stopten tot de laatste jaren. De prachtige aanblik van vissers zat op vertakte palen terwijl ze vakkundig vissen tijdens de dageraad, de middag en de schemering; kan nu meestal langs de zuidelijke kust in steden zoals Koggala zijn.
onze volgende stop is Sea Turtle Farm and Hatchery. De broederij gerund door individuen vlak bij het strand om schildpaddeneieren te bewaren die op het brede lange strand liggen dat zich helemaal tot aan de hotels in Koggala uitstrekt. Hawksbill, onechte kop en groene schildpadden nestelen zich hier.
Het strand van Unawatuna – Sri Lanka Ontspan op het wereldberoemde Unawatuna Beach, een van de mooiste gouden zandstranden aan de zuidkust van Sri Lanka. Omgeven door palmbomen en kalm turquoise water, is deze baai perfect om te zwemmen, zonnebaden en de relaxte tropische sfeer te ervaren. Gasten kunnen genieten van vrije tijd om langs de kustlijn te wandelen, foto's te maken, te zwemmen in de zachte golven of te ontspannen in een café aan het strand. Unawatuna staat bekend om zijn veilige zwemomstandigheden en prachtige uitzicht op de zonsondergang, waardoor het een must-visit bestemming in het zuiden is.

Sometimes, these reviews are about the wonderful place you visited. Other times, it is about your guide. When the two combine, you have a truly memorable excursion. To start, we had the most wonderful guide. Great sense of humor, the ability to understand when his elderly tourists were wearing out and the wisdom to put unscheduled stops into the “walk around Galle Fort.” The Japanese Peace Pagoda, the stilt fishermen (yes, we know they no longer make their living by fishing this way - they make their money off us taking pictures of them), the Kosgodda Turtle Rescue group, Galle Fort and a half dozen little places we visited because our guide said we would enjoy them (and no, they were NOT high priced tourist marts) like a Sri Lankan cemetery (because my brother is a funeral director and he loves us sending photos of cemeteries in other places). All in all, one of our best Viator tours.

We only had half a day of spare time and this private tour led by Milan was perfect! We enjoyed the walks of scenery and educational talk at the sea turtle sanctuary quite a lot. The beaches and the sea are truly breathtaking. This trip suits couples and family who'd like to travel in their own pace.

Milan was a wonderful guide! My children and I absolutely loved this private tour. Everything was organized perfectly and at a very relaxed pace, which was ideal for traveling with kids. The silent fishing experience was a real highlight for the children - my daughter was so excited to try it themselves. We also visited a turtle farm, where we learned a lot about these amazing animals and even got to see baby turtles. At the end of the day, we visited the Dutch Fort and watched a beautiful sunset. It was the perfect way to finish the tour. Milan was very kind, knowledgeable, and great with the kids. Really very good tour with a charming guide, Milan. Took us to all the good sites in the area and nothing was too much trouble. He was able to take us to an antiques shop for in a remote part of Galle and in general he was very obliging. Can recommend.

Mila the guide was very friendly, great English and very knowledgeable with a good car. I got to experience everything that’s listed, although the turtle sanctuary is a big cramped. Galle fort is amazing but I was staying there anyway so I think I could have organised the same trip locally for less money.
