Na het ophalen van de auto van Cruiseport of het hotel rijden we u 1 uur en 45 min. naar Efeze zonder enige winkelstop. Bezoek aan de beroemde Efeze, Artemis tempel, Celcus bibliotheek en Artemis Tempel Ontmoet u bij uw hotel of schip en rijd naar Efeze. Hierna gaan we op weg naar Efeze, een van de belangrijkste culturele centra van de oude wereld. We bezoeken de ruïnes van Efeze, Odeon, Celcus Bibliotheek en het Theater dat vandaag de dag nog steeds in gebruik is voor concerten en een verbazingwekkende capaciteit heeft van 25.000. Terwijl we door deze oude site lopen, ziet u de straten geplaveid met marmer die een hint geven naar de grote rijkdom van deze stad vele jaren geleden. Na de lunchpauze stoppen we bij de Artemis tempel. Op verzoek is de volgende stop een bezoek aan een lokaal keramiekatelier, waar u een presentatie over het proces kunt bekijken, waarna u Turkse tegels vorm ziet krijgen. Wij kunnen op verzoek toevoegen: Bezoek aan de Maagd Mariakerk Sint-Janskerk Efezemuseum in Selcuk

Terwijl we door deze oude plek lopen, zul je de met marmer geplaveide straten opmerken, wat een verwijzing naar de grote rijkdom van deze stad vele jaren geleden. Na de lunchpauze stoppen we bij de Artemis-tempel. En als laatste niet in de laatste plaats een korte stop bij de Zeus-tempel van Euromos, die bijna niemand bezoekt; het is een van de meest originele tempels die er zijn. Op verzoek kunnen we toevoegen: Bezoek aan de Maagd Mariakerk Sint-Janskerk Efezemuseum in Selcuk.
De Tempel van Artemis in Efeze lag aan de westkust van Klein-Azië (het huidige Turkije) en werd gebouwd in de 6e eeuw voor Christus. De enorme omvang ervan was zo groot, het dubbele van de afmetingen van andere Griekse tempels, waaronder het Parthenon, dat het al snel werd beschouwd als een van de zeven wonderen van de antieke wereld.
OP VERZOEK was de Kerk van de Maagd Maria de eerste van de kerken gewijd aan de Moeder van Christus. Het is ook het belangrijkste gebouw uit de christelijke tijd in Efeze.

My mother and I had a beautiful day-trip to Ephesus and around Selcuk. Erkan was flexible and generous from the start, making a very last-minute booking for us and drove us out personally to make the tour possible. Ephesus is an incredible ancient city, Erkan arranged our guide there and we thoroughly enjoyed our time. We were enchanted by many ruins but particularly the two-story library that's been so impressively reconstructed. Our adventure back to the hotel included a stop at a local ceramic studio and shop, and lunch at a great winery where we enjoyed good food and drink with views over a beautiful landscape. Erkan even found an opportunity to show us a Zeus Temple off the beaten track off the road back to the hotel. Throughout we thoroughly enjoyed Erkan's company and our conversations together, his deep knowledge and appreciation for local history and nature. Erkan was immensely helpful in the days that followed our tour too, helping to arrange travel and taxis for us around the area. We're grateful for his kindness and our encounters with him were a highlight of our trip to Bodrum!

We recommend this trip with Gunay! It was a long but enjoyable day full of facts, history and information about Ephesus and the surrounding area. Having traveled from the US, we wanted to see as much as possible and she was accommodating. We did not visit the Zeus Temple of Euromos, as described.
The best surprise of our Ephesus and Artemis tour was our guide, Gunay. She surpassed all our expectations with her deep knowledge, enthusiasm, and the way she made the entire experience smooth, a lot of fun, and rewarding. She took time to explain complex historical details in an entertaining way. Most of all, her caring and genuine nature won the heart of my teenager. We had a wonderful daytrip to Ephesus and Selcuk area. We were picked up at the hotel in Turgutreis at 6 am (sharp) and travelled up north to our first visit in Ephesus, including the amazing amphitheatre, library of Celsus, the immersive museum and the ancient Church of Mary (we opted for not visiting the Terraces houses). Then we stopped for lunch at the Agora in Selcuk and from there we visited the ancient Basilica of St John, the Temple of Artemis (where only a pillar still stands) and the House of the Virgin Mary (which has more of a spiritual meaning). Our guide Gunay was very helpful, expressive and engaged everyone in the region’s culture, history and local traditions. A highly recommended immersive tour in Asia Minor ancient times.

We had the most wonderful day with Gunay and it was a truly memorable experience. Gunay was amazing -- she not only had all kinds of trivia at her fingertips, she feels passionately for the region and has an encyvlopaedic knowledge about Ephesus and that period in history. She's also very kind and attentive. She was so patient with our four year-old daughter and made sure she had the most wonderful time.
