Vertrek tussen 07.00 uur en 09.00 uur, afhankelijk van uw keuze, vanuit uw accommodatie in Rabat, op weg naar Fes, waarbij u de snelweg neemt voor een comfortabele rit van ongeveer 2 en een half uur. Zodra je daar aankomt, wordt je opgewacht door je gids en geniet je van de Ronde van Fes.
De eerste stop op onze route is het prachtige Koninklijk Paleis van de koning van Marokko in Fes. Het werd opgericht tijdens de oprichting van Fes el-Jdid (Nieuw Fez) in 1276 CE en weerspiegelt voornamelijk architectonische elementen uit de Alaouitische periode van de 17e tot de 20e eeuw. Het paleis ligt verspreid over een uitgestrekt terrein en bestaat uit privégebouwen, binnenplaatsen en weelderige tuinen, waar historisch gezien administratieve kantoren en regeringskamers waren gevestigd. Tegenwoordig is de grootsheid ervan duidelijk zichtbaar via de hoofdingangen aan de Oude Mechouar en de ingewikkeld ontworpen 20e-eeuwse poorten aan de Place des Alaouites. Bewonder het verbluffende Marokkaanse vakmanschap en maak gedenkwaardige foto's te midden van de prachtige ambiance van het paleis.
Verken de noordelijke toren, oorspronkelijk gebouwd als fort in 1582 onder de Saadi-dynastie en weerspiegelt de Portugese fortontwerpen uit de 16e eeuw. Het staat bekend als een van de uitgestrekte defensie-installaties van Fez en integreert op unieke wijze de Europese militaire architectonische ontwikkelingen uit het buskruittijdperk. Het fort is momenteel toegankelijk voor bezoekers en doet dienst als wapenmuseum en biedt een kijkje in historisch wapentuig. Daarna brengen we je naar de Joodse wijk die in de eerste helft van de 14e eeuw werd gesticht door de Mariniden-dynastie. Meestal lag de Joodse wijk vlakbij het koninklijk paleis om de inwoners te beschermen.
Verken de beroemde Quaraouiyine-universiteit, aanvankelijk tussen 857 en 859 door Fatima al-Fihri als moskee opgericht. Tijdens de Islamitische Gouden Eeuw evolueerde het tot een prominent centrum van spiritualiteit en onderwijs, maar in 1963 ging het over in het hedendaagse staatsuniversiteitssysteem van Marokko en werd het formeel aangewezen als kort daarna de "Universiteit van Al Quaraouiyine". De structuur van de moskee zelf belichaamt belangrijke historische Marokkaanse en islamitische bouwstijlen en toont invloeden uit verschillende tijdperken in de Marokkaanse geschiedenis
Verken de Chouara-leerlooierij, een van de drie leerlooierijen van Fes en de grootste en oudste onder hen. Gelegen in de oude medinawijk langs de Oued Fes, heeft het sinds het ontstaan van de stad de traditionele bruiningsmethoden behouden. Tegenwoordig is de leerindustrie een prominente toeristische trekpleister, met stenen vaten gevuld met kleurstoffen en verzachtende vloeistoffen voor huiden. De hier vervaardigde lederwaren zijn wereldwijd bekend, terwijl de leerlooierijen bruisen van de arbeiders die zich bezighouden met het ingewikkelde proces. Leg momenten van hun werk vast, bied een kijkje in het leerproductieproces en zorg voor gedenkwaardige foto's.
Verken de prachtige Madrasa Bou Inania, gebouwd tussen 1350 en 1355 CE onder Abu Inan Faris. Het onderscheidt zich als de enige madrasa van Marokko die ook dienst deed als gemeentemoskee, het is een hoogtepunt van Marinidische architecturale uitmuntendheid en heeft betekenis in de bredere context van de Marokkaanse architectuurgeschiedenis.
Madrasa Attarine is een oud historisch architectonisch meesterwerk dat de geschiedenis van de stad Fez vertelt. De madrasah was een residentie voor studenten die kwamen studeren aan de Al-Qarawiyyin Universiteit.

This was a great trip. Although it rained all day, the experience - from pickup to the guide - made up for the rainy day. Our driver met us at the designated location. The bus accommodated us fairly comfortably- Black Mercedes Benz that sits 6. We arrived in Fes at the anticipated time and met our guide (Yousef). He was very good. His English is very good, he communicated very well and he answered all our questions. When he took us to the many stops on the tour, he was well received - everybody knew him. Just walking down the street or alley people are shouting his name - Yousef, Yousef! The guy is a star! When we wanted to buy stuff, he was our chief negotiator. Very good guide. One of the best parts of the tour was going through the Medina. We've been to a few Medinas in Morocco - Fes has (arguably) the best one and having Yousef as our guide made it even better. We left Rabat for Fes at 9:30am - took us about 2.5hrs to get to Fes. We returned to Rabat at 8:15pm. I am told it's typically a 10hr trip, but we were closer to 11hrs - which we were fine with. We appreciated the extra time in Fes. I definitely recommend this tour to anyone wanting to experience Fes and more specifically I would recommend Yousef.

Our driver came to pick us up on time at our hotel. When in Fes, we picked up our guide Yousef. We went into the medina and saw some interesting crafts workers (bakery, pottery porcelain coop, tannery...). Made contact with them to answer our questions. There was a good interaction, we've learned a lot. We purchased some very nice souvenirs. We had a wonderful day. We would recommend this tour and Yousef to everybody who wants to go to Fes.
I had a truly amazing day! I had a comfortable ride though the Moroccan countryside with my driver Yassir. He pointed out interesting things along the way and we had a good chat! Once in Fes, my guide Youssef Elbargui helped me to learn so much over the course of the day about local history, culture, and artistry. We walked all over the Medina and environs with Youssef pointing out sites, providing information, and introducing me to wonderful artisans of different types of works. I learned so much about weaving, the process of making oils, medicinal herbs, and more. I was particularly fascinated by the process of making the ceramic tiles for mosaic pieces. All of these stops helped me appreciate the culture and the genius behind such intricate art. It was a great experience! I walked away with my brain completely full. There is so much to Fes that it can’t be fully experienced in a day, but this was a great introduction! Thank you Youssef and Yassir!
