De dag begint met een pick-up van uw hotel in Rome door uw deskundige chauffeur-gids. Onderweg naar Pompeii hoort u het fascinerende verhaal achter deze wereldberoemde archeologische vindplaats. De uitbarsting van de Vesuvius op 24 augustus in 79 AD veranderde deze eens bloeiende havenstad in een hel van dood en vernietiging.
Pompeii is een van de mooiste en meest indrukwekkende archeologische vindplaatsen die je in je leven zou kunnen zien. Daar kun je een hele dag doorbrengen. De belangrijkste hoogtepunten van de bestemming die je niet mag missen zijn het amfitheater, villa van mysteries, huis van een dansende faun, de fresco's, graffiti en mozaïeken zijn ook erg interessant om naar te kijken. Als je je reiservaring een boost wilt geven en er het meeste uit wilt halen, raden we je ten zeerste aan om een professionele lokale gids te nemen. Het zal tot 170 euro toevoegen aan het totaal maar het is zeker de moeite waard, Na het bezoek aan Pompeii rijden we verder om de kust van Amalfi te bereiken, we maken verschillende stops om eerst het prachtige panoramische uitzicht te bewonderen bij Sorrento en een langere pauze in het voormalige slapende vissersdorp Positano. Vandaag de dag is dit pittoreske stadje een populaire toeristische bestemming dankzij zijn schoonheid en charme. LET OP: in de zomer bezoeken we Pompei in de middag, in de winter doen we het in de ochtend.
Na het bezoek aan Pompei rijden we langs de kust van Amalfi en maken verschillende stops om te genieten van het prachtige uitzicht, speciaal bij Sorrento en Positano. Omdat het een privétour is, dus de reisroute flexibel is en je deze naar wens kunt wijzigen, kunnen onze chauffeurs je beter begeleiden over de beste route en welke sites het bezoeken waard zijn, zodat je niets hoeft te missen.
Tijdens de lunch neemt uw chauffeur u mee naar een familierestaurant op de top van de berg om te genieten van een typische maaltijd en wijn uit dit gebied van Zuid-Italië en ook van een panoramisch prachtig uitzicht op de baai van Positano. Na de lunch heb je wat vrije tijd om door de kleine straatjes van Positano te slenteren om te genieten van de sfeer en charme van die plek en misschien wat te winkelen.
Rijd terug naar Rome en zet je af bij je hotel.

My rating is somewhere between 2 and 3 stars. The positives: the driver picked us up promptly and was polite. The Amalfi Coast was beautiful - very hectic and crowded but beautiful. Pompeii was very interesting but you need a guide. We used Rick Steves audio and it wasn’t sufficient. We stopped for a fresh lemon slushy that was amazing. The negatives: we had 8 in our party and were squeezed into a 9 person van (the driver made 9). Be prepared to sit in the van for almost 5 hours on the first leg of the trip, then you stop for lunch on the coast for 1.5 hrs, get back in the van and drive another hour to Pompeii. There was no narrative along the way as the driver spoke little English. We spent about 2.5 hours in Pompeii. Then we got back in the van for a long 3 hr drive back to Rome. The time in the van was uncomfortable and long. If you decide to do this trip, keep in mind that it’s a long time riding in a van with 3 people in each seat shoulder to shoulder. Two members of our party had to sit in the front seat of the van with the driver. This caused the person seated in that middle seat to sway legs and feet to side during the entire journey during to the “hump” on the floorboard. I’ve been on tours before that were top rated but the long ride smashed together took the pleasure out of this one. Would I do it again? Nope.
Thanks for your feedback, we have recommended you to book a guide but you have refused and said you would do it on your own, obviously the driver is not a guide and we wrote in the description of the tour that by Italian law only guides are allowed to give information. For the car we have sent you a 9 seats van and this is the biggest van available and we never had complaint about that, from the other hand to send a bigger car, it will be a bus with 16 seats that cost the double of what you paid for this tour.
The absolutely best excursion we had a fantastic driver Ahmad I had my entire family included were a 3 year old and 4 year old we got to experience so much he would tell us everything about where we were it was a early start he made a stop for coffee etc and when we’re getting close to Positano he stopped got lemon cello for my entire family we choose longer in Positano so you can change what you like he made our day so delightful great tour
A perfect day. Odo was so fun and made the day stress free. We saw the Amalfi Coast, had lunch in Sorrento, and awed by Pompeii. The guide in Pompeii was really knowledgeable and brought Pompeii to life. Traffic was thick around Sorrento since it was a Saturday so maybe try to go on this tour on a weekday.
I would have liked to have a more detailed agenda so we knew what to expect- we had a driver that didn’t speak a ton of English. If he did then I think we would have known better what to expect and when. He was nice enough (though the name given vs the name he uses was different) and we did have a restroom stop after one hour and then again the last hour headed home. We didn’t realize we had an hour to go do shopping in Positano until he was dropping us off…lol all in all we loved the sights. We’re really thankful we didn’t do the drive ourselves. Car was clean and in good condition. He didn’t give any historical info (again suspects language barrier) we got it all from our Pompeii private tour we paid extra for

Ahmed was an outstanding driver and guide. He is engaging, polite and respectful. The day was long but we covered a great deal of Southern Italy and were able to spend a good amount of time in each area. The restaurant in Sorrento served excellent food with a comfortable ambiance. The Pompeii tour with Mafalda was excellent! The later time allowed us to see the area without large crowds. She was able to keep the interest of the kids (and us) with her outgoing personality. She was able to describe settings in Pompeii in a way that you could imagine how people lived in those times. Highly recommend it!

A good tour, the guide was obviously passionate about the subject and welcomed questions. Just FYI, you won’t see most of the site but will cover the most essential areas. It was hot so sunscreen, hats and water is recommended.
This was an amazing day! Ahmed was our driver and he was very informative about the locations we visited. He was very friendly and really took care of my family all day. We passed through Naples and Sorrento before stopping in Positano for lunch on the beach and some shopping then visited Pompeii in the afternoon. We opted for guided tour in Pompeii and it was very informative. I would highly recommend this trip and I hope you are lucky enough to get Ahmed as your driver.
