De Vallei der Koningen is een van de belangrijkste archeologische vindplaatsen ter wereld en een UNESCO Werelderfgoed. Verborgen in de woestijnkliffen van Luxors Westelijke Jordaanoever, was deze koninklijke necropolis de laatste rustplaats van de farao's van het Nieuwe Koninkrijk (1550-1070 v.Chr.). Hier zijn meer dan 60 koninklijke graven ontdekt, die toebehoren aan legendarische heersers zoals Ramses II, Seti I en Toetanchamon. Elk graf is prachtig versierd met felgekleurde muurschilderingen en inscripties uit het Boek der Doden, ontworpen om de koning te Gids op zijn reis naar het hiernamaals. Een standaard toegangsbewijs omvat 3 graven, geselecteerd door de autoriteiten bij toerbeurt om ze te behouden. Elk graf biedt een unieke ervaring, met gangen, grafkamers en gedetailleerde scènes van goden, farao's en de onderwereld.
Ga verder naar de prachtige Mortuariumtempel van koningin Hatshepsut, een van de machtigste vrouwen in het oude Egypte. De tempel is dramatisch gebouwd in de kliffen van Deir el-Bahari en is een architectonisch meesterwerk, met terrassen, beelden en heiligdommen gewijd aan Amun en Hathor. Pick up from our hotel was on time and we were warmly greeted by the guide and driver. The car was spacious and clean. Our guide provided detailed explanations of every temple and tomb we visited giving us very interesting insights into ancient Egyptian religion and the various pharaohs and their relationships with each other. The statues, temple designs and hieroglyphics were all described very clearly, bringing the stories described by the wall paintings to life. A thoroughly enjoyable tour with a very knowledgeable and entertaining guide. Note that the temple and tomb visits require a lot of walking and stairs/ramps which are a challenge for persons with reduced mobility.

Overall,it was an unforgettable experience everything is planned and organised from the time they’ve picked us from the airport.
