Beleef een onvergetelijke dag en verken de iconische locaties van de landing in Normandië: Utah Beach, Pointe du Hoc, Omaha Beach en de Amerikaanse begraafplaats. Een aangrijpende duik in de geschiedenis van de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Naast deze niet te missen bezienswaardigheden biedt de excursie exclusieve flexibiliteit: ter plaatse vindt u diverse musea gewijd aan de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Hun bezoek is optioneel en niet bij de prijs inbegrepen, maar als u uw ervaring wilt verrijken, kunt u dit eenvoudig met uw chauffeur bespreken. ➡️ Afhankelijk van uw voorkeuren en beschikbare tijd kan hij het dagprogramma aanpassen om een van deze musea (bijvoorbeeld het Overlord Museum of Utah Beach) te bezoeken, terwijl hij ervoor zorgt dat u op tijd en veilig terugkeert. Uw chauffeur en gids (afhankelijk van de gekozen optie) halen u direct op bij de afgesproken locatie: Pension, treinstation of cruiseterminal. Hij zal u begroeten met een naambordje om de ontmoeting te vergemakkelijken. Vervolgens neemt u plaats aan boord van een modern, comfortabel en van airconditioning voorzien voertuig voor een onvergetelijke dag vol geschiedenis.
Na ongeveer twee uur rijden vanuit Le Havre bereik je Utah Beach, het eerste strand dat op 6 juni 1944 door Amerikaanse troepen werd bevrijd. Je ontdekt de bunkers, de overblijfselen van de Atlantikwall en, optioneel, het museum dat de militaire operaties in beeld brengt. Uw gids zal uitleggen hoe de troepen van generaal Roosevelt erin slaagden de Duitse verdediging te doorbreken met relatief beperkte verliezen. ➡️ Een stap die de dag perfect inleidt en de geallieerde strategie en het belang van dit strand laat zien.
Na een reis van 40 minuten bereikt u Pointe du Hoc. Deze spectaculaire plek, gelegen op 30 meter hoge kliffen, getuigt tot op de dag van vandaag nog steeds van het geweld van de gevechten. Bomkraters en verwoeste bunkers herinneren aan de heldhaftige aanval van de Amerikaanse rangers die onder vijandelijk vuur de klif beklommen. ➡️ Een indrukwekkende en emotioneel geladen plek, die de moed van de soldaten illustreert.
Een korte autorit van 15 minuten brengt u naar Omaha Beach, ook wel bekend als "Bloody Omaha". Dit strand blijft een van de meest aangrijpende plekken van de D-Day-landingen. Hier leden de Amerikaanse troepen de zwaarste verliezen, terwijl ze geconfronteerd werden met een geduchte Duitse verdediging. Wandelen op dit strand is de geschiedenis voelen en de award van vrijheid begrijpen. Lunchpauze: u kunt ervoor kiezen om ter plaatse te lunchen (broodjes, snelle snacks) of, als u dat liever hebt, te genieten van een maaltijd in een klein, typisch restaurantje langs de weg, geselecteerd op basis van authenticiteit en lokale keuken. ➡️ Een hoogtepunt van de dag, doordrenkt van zowel geschiedenis als gezelligheid.
Na slechts 10 minuten rijden bereikt u de Amerikaanse begraafplaats in Colleville-sur-Mer, tegenover Omaha Beach. Deze gedenkplaats is een eerbetoon aan de meer dan 9.000 Amerikaanse soldaten die sneuvelden tijdens de Slag om Normandië. Daar ziet u de perfecte rijen witte kruizen, het monument, de kapel en het adembenemende uitzicht op de zee. ➡️ Een ontroerend bezoek, dat uitnodigt tot bezinning en reflectie op het offer van een hele generatie.
Aan het eind van de dag brengt uw chauffeur u veilig en volgens de afgesproken tijd terug naar uw oorspronkelijke vertrekpunt (Pension, treinstation, cruiseterminal of een ander afgesproken adres).

Ga voor het ophalen naar de locatie die wordt aangegeven in uw boekingsbevestiging, vanuit Le Havre of Honfleur. Wacht bij het hotel in de lobby of bij de hoofdingang. Bij de cruiseterminal gaat u naar de uitgang, waar uw chauffeur op u wacht met een bordje met uw naam erop. Ons coördinatiecentrum neemt in ieder geval contact met u op om u de gegevens van de chauffeur te verstrekken en ervoor te zorgen dat uw dag soepel verloopt.

Absolutely brilliant. Our tour guide Mathilde was a wealth of knowledge and fascinating local insights. Our driver Modjy was pleasant, courtious and very professional. Our group of seven (ages 4 to 67) all came away eager to do individual research in order to gain a deeper understanding of the events that Mathilde had introduced us to. We spent 10 hours with Mathilde and Modjy and every minute was fascinating and a joy. Highly recomended, a most rewarding day.

An excellent driver, Adel, with a great tour guide, Sunny. Picked the 6 of us up at the cruise ship for a drive to Normandy. Sunny was very good at giving g us information about the country side we were passing through, the areas we were to visit and WWII . Did not rush us and gave us options. Incredible day with private tour guide who helped us understand all the intricacies and details of the D-Day planning, landings, and battles. Omaha Beach, Utah Beach, Pont Du Hoc, bunkers, craters, hedgerows, and more. The Memorial was particularly special as we explored the chapel, cross headstones, and the wall of names of soldiers who have not yet been found. Our guide helped me contact the Visitor Center to arrange a remembrance of my grandfather's best friend who survived D-Day but died a month later. (I had not known to arrange it prior to the trip). We sanded his stone with sand from Omaha Beach (to help his name stand out in pictures) and placed an American and French flag at his grave. Such an amazing experience with my daughter! And the hospitality was incredible- we even stopped for omelettes and gallettes. We also added a round-trip transfer to and from our cruise port for added convenience and were so glad we did. Great trip!
