Amazing experience, well worth it. It was a beautiful boat ride and really cool to see the Bay. Cody and Charlie were super friendly and kind! Everyone visiting the Caymans should do this
Nice guys, really enjoyed having the private boat. Would recommend it to any of my friends.
I wrote a very detailed review on Viator.com. Bottom line, very disappointed in the quality of the boat itself, sub-par
This client came to booking under the influence of something, got on another’s company boat had that company bring them back to our original meeting point and proceeded to insult my Captain and look for a refund. Unfortunately we are unable to provide a review/comment for this guest but warn other captains to be aware of these guest.
I am a seasoned traveler and user of Viator. This tour description w/ StaySalty was misleading, their boat was horrible. If you want to do this tour, please consider a different private charter company and make sure you ask to see photos of the boats (inside and out) that they will operate for your tour. Lovely boats do exist as we saw several departing from the same place. StaySalty website is basic, no details and that should have been a sign. They gave us the 21’ Trophy (I researched afterwards). Perhaps not a scam as noted in another comment; however, the boat itself was subpar, small and very uncomfortable. It was also unkept with an old, worn looking soft cooler on the floor in the way of where our feet had to go (my husband had to move it). The seats were soaked through as was I when we got back. No water offered, but there were empty crushed water bottles on the floor. No interior lights on the boat where we were squished in the back. It is very low to the water with no protection and so sea sprayed the whole time. Might be okay in the daytime but not at night. No dry storage provided for our bags/towels/flip flops. Important to note, for a sunset sail this time of year you would need to leave prior to 6:00 as it goes down quite early and departure was at 6:30. So it was a dark and super bumpy ride (20-30 mins), no warning about that either. We couldn’t understand a word Captain Eddie said (when he even spoke). Drove past large homes in the dark, not that interesting although probably nice during the daylight. When we arrived he anchored and sat down. No explanation of the bay, what to expect or how it all worked. I since learned the bioluminescence colors are not necessarily visible to the naked eye. The water has to be agitated and then you can see it through your camera lens (which we figured out by looking at another (beautiful) tour boat and their people. So buyer beware, I would recommend you pass on this particular tour provider as I feel the experience would have been so much better with a more comfortable boat (one higher off the water with better overall accommodations) and and informative crew. I did ask for a partial refund given the above and was declined. Lesson learned hence the honest review to avoid this happening to another family.
It is unfortunate your experience did not match your expectations, however, as detailed in numerous email exchanges this tour was executed as advertised and you may have had a more enjoyable experience were the insults to my Captain withheld (including the comment here about not understanding him when he speaks English with his local, Caymanian, accent from the country you were visiting) and you had not insinuated my Captain was late after you got onto (and pushed off with) the wrong boat and charter company. I hope you are kinder to future individuals who are providing services that you have booked.
Outstanding trip with Stay Salty Charters to the Bioluminescent Bay. Started with a sl9w tour around the coast to watch the sunset and then into the Bioluminescent Bay. This is a must do excursion, being 1 of only 5 Bioluminescent bays in the world. It is absolutely magical, and we highly recommend Stay Salty charters! Friendly guys, talked and joked with my whole family and made everyone feel welcome and part of the fun. Comfortable boat for the 5 of us and everyone truly enjoyed this trip!
Beautiful night ride under the stars. Bioluminescence was incredible cool. Captain Cody was great. Would highly recommend.
Captain Cody was very responsive from 5 minutes after booking until we launched. Captain Deion was waiting for us at the dock and gave a great tour of the bio bay. He was born and raised in Cayman and gave us great insight about the islands. The Biobay itself was amazing. We snorkeled and saw a large amount of luminescence. I would highly recommend this trip, and I would definitely use Cody and Deion again for another adventure.
It was very nice to see the homes on Bio Bay and was a good experience to be able to swim in the water that turns blue.
That was the highlight of our trip! Excellent communication and updates…Cody truly went out of his way to take care of us. Since he’s been on the water and navigating all his life, I had no questions we were in good hands. What a great guy and great boat on a beautiful island offering amazing views of everything from sunsets, to starfish and everything in between. Ask him to play some Bob Marley for a three dimensional experience ;). Thanks Cody…we will never forget this or you!
There was NO LUMINESCENCE!! This is a SCAM!!!! It was a painful ride there, there was nothing lit up and then we were battered by the wind and surf on the return. DONT DO THIS! Colossal waste of time and money!
The bioluminescence are living organisms, the brightness on any given evening is not guaranteed. Unfortunately the night you went out the bay was not at its brightest (but still visible in the water), however this is quite simply out of our control.
