Om 8:00 uur haalt de deskundige gids je op bij je hotel in Aswan en rijdt naar het zuiden van Aswan, waar je met een voertuig met airconditioning kunt genieten van de Abu Simbel-dagtour vanuit Aswan. De twee tempels van Abu Simbel worden met hun unieke stijl beschouwd als de meesterwerken van het oude Egypte. Ze weerspiegelen de glorie en grootsheid van het nieuwe koninkrijk. De Egyptische regering en UNESCO besloten samen te werken om deze tempels van de overstroming te redden. De Tempel van Ramses II was gewijd aan de vier universele goden Ptah, Re-Her-Akhtey, Amun-Re en aan Ramses II zelf. De grote tempel van Abu Simbel wordt ook wel de Zonnetempel van Ramses II genoemd. De tempel van koningin Nefertari wordt ook wel de Tempel van Hathor genoemd, die de vrouw was van de Zonnegod, dus op symbolische wijze zijn de twee tempels, die van Ramses II en die van Nefertari, breng Ramses II, Nefertari, Hathor en de Zonnegod samen als één. Breng daar ongeveer 3 uur door en neem dan de terugweg naar Aswan
Ramses II spelde afwisselend ook Rameses [6] of Ramses, 'Ra is degene die hem baarde' of 'geboren uit Ra', Koinē Grieks: Ῥαμέσσης, geromaniseerd: Rhaméssēs, c. 1303 BC - juli of augustus 1213; regeerde 1279-1213 v. Chr. [7]), ook bekend als Ramses de Grote, was de derde farao van de negentiende dynastie van Egypte. Hij wordt vaak beschouwd als de grootste, meest gevierde en machtigste farao van het Nieuwe Rijk, zelf de machtigste periode van het oude Egypte.[8] Zijn opvolgers en latere Egyptenaren noemden hem de "Grote Voorouder".

Nefertari Nefertari, ook bekend als Nefertari Meritmut, was een Egyptische koningin en de eerste van de grote koninklijke vrouwen (of belangrijkste vrouwen) van Ramses de Grote.[1] Nefertari betekent 'mooie metgezel' en Meritmut betekent 'Geliefde van [de godin] Mut'. Ze is een van de bekendste Egyptische koninginnen, onder vrouwen als Cleopatra, Nefertiti en Hatsjepsoet, en een van de meest prominente waarvan niet bekend is of waarvan men denkt dat ze op eigen kracht heeft geregeerd. Ze was hoog opgeleid en kon zowel hiërogliefen lezen als schrijven, een zeer zeldzame vaardigheid in die tijd. Ze gebruikte deze vaardigheden in haar diplomatieke werk, wat overeenkomt met andere prominente leden van het koningshuis uit die tijd. Haar rijkelijk versierde tombe, QV66, is een van de grootste en meest spectaculaire in de Vallei der Koninginnen. Ramses bouwde ook een tempel voor haar in Abu Simbel naast zijn kolossale monument daar.

We had a great time visiting Abu Simbel. Our driver was very professional and courteous. We stopped at a nice reststop on the way there and back for a coffee break. The car was comfortable and air conditioned. When we arrived we had plenty of time to explore on our own at our own pace. Definitely recommend!
Zack, our guide, was amazing. He made the history of the temple come alive. Overall, the tour was also top rate. Punctual, good cars, brilliant support
Communication unfluid with the supplier, you had to go behind to give us the information about the pickup. About the driver, what to say... to my boyfriend overtaking the seat and giving him a cushion to make him comfortable, to me without leaving me even the legroom.
Great experience! Our driver Abodo picked us up from our hotel on time. He was a fantastic driver, the drive was seamless and comfortable and we had a few chance to stop for a bite and washroom. He didnt rush us at all. Highly recommend!!

We would highly recommend Emo Tours Egypt - everything about the tour was beyond expectations. Abu Simbel itself was of course fantastic and well worth the long drive, and there are many companies offering tours, so my review is about Emo Tours. Communication from the company was excellent, instant response to questions on WhatsApp. We organised the pick up point (a cruise boat in our case) directly with the company via WhatsApp. The pick up was on time, the car was almost new and very comfortable, and our driver Mohammed was a very good, safe driver. With the comfortable car and very good straight roads we got to Abu Simbel in 3.5 hours including a 15 minute coffee stop (even quicker on the way back). Our guide was very friendly and very knowledgeable and he gave us a lot of very useful and interesting information in perfect English before we entered the temples. Both guide and driver were friendly and courteous. Overall an excellent company and tour, hence highly recommended
Car arrived on time, no pressure for us to hurry our trip. Very comfortable and exceptionally clean car. We had a 7am pick up which was perfect as the crowds were leaving as we arrived at around 10.45.
The driver was respectful. Arrived promptly. He didn't make me feel uncomfortable as a solo female traveller. He's also a careful driver, avoiding road bumps and potholes. He sign posted me to the ticket stand and didn't just drop me off at the car park. He did not smoke in the car. I will recommend Mohammed from Nubia. I had read bad reviews about Emo tours prior to travelling and I was avoiding them. I only realised when the driver arrived that it was an emo tours tour. I found Abu Simbel underwhelming and not worth the hype. I prefer Karnak and Luxor Temples the statues and every other thing.
It was lovely, the temple is amazing and worst the travel! Our guide Dahlia was really nice and give us lots of infos, infortuntately we only had an hour in the temple and the tour was 7 hours not 9. We would have appreciate to have a bit more time in as we spent 6 hours on the road!
It suited us that the excursion started at 7:00, not very early like most tours. The drive took about 3 hours and 30 minutes. The car was clean and the driver drove carefully. We spent two hours at the location and the driver dropped us off in front of the desired restaurant in Aswan. I recommend this tour, the price and service were very good; other tours were much more expensive, even when I tried to arrange it through the accommodation owner. I was a little worried whether the driver would pick us up at the accommodation, because it was written somehow vaguely on the website, i.e. some meeting points are mentioned.
