Tirano is het laagste punt van de Bernina-spoorlijn - 429 meter. Onze eerste stop is een charmant Italiaans dorpje in de Alpen, een paar kilometer van de Zwitserse grens. Tirano biedt vele mogelijkheden voor een heerlijke lunch gemaakt van verse ingrediënten. Op weg naar Tirano zal onze deskundige gids u veel tips geven over het leven van de kleine plattelandsbevolking, het leven en de tradities in de Alpen en de lokale geschiedenis van een van de grootste alpenvalleien. Bekijk de ongelooflijke wijngaarden op de berghellingen en proef een speciale lokale wijn uit de Alpen.
Slechts 25 km met de trein brengt reizigers van de boomgaarden en palmbomen in Tirano naar de gletsjers van de Berninapas op 2.253 meter. De vallei wordt aan beide kanten omgeven door 3.000 meter hoge toppen, waarvan de hoogste, de Piz Palü, 3.900 meter bereikt. Drie klimaat- en vegetatiezones zijn hier vertegenwoordigd, van extreem koud en besneeuwd tot mediterraan, die een breed scala aan landbouwproducten bieden. Vanaf de top van de Bernina-spoorlijn is het uitzicht over de Poschiavo-vallei ongelooflijk.
Op dit punt wordt u overweldigd door de schoonheid van de Zwitserse Alpen. Ospizio Bernina ligt op het hoogste punt van de Bernina-lijn - 2253 meter. Bij Ospizio Bernina zijn enkele van de hoogste toppen en permanente gletsjers van de oostelijke Alpen zichtbaar.
Geniet van de busrit door een van de hoogst bewoonde dalen van de Alpen - Engadin. Het is een waar paradijs voor wintersporters en avonturiers, een vallei van ongerepte natuur met een blauw meer en frisse berglucht.
Verken St. Moritz - een bestemming die het hele jaar door bezoekers trekt - en niet alleen omdat het gemiddeld 300 dagen zon per jaar heeft. De badplaats staat bekend als een van de eerste bestemmingen voor wintertoerisme en heeft tweemaal de Olympische Winterspelen georganiseerd. De naam en het logo van St. Moritz zijn de oudste toeristische logo's die nog steeds worden gebruikt en worden vermeld als geregistreerde handelsmerken. In de winter is het bevroren meer van St. Moritz een arena voor paardenraces, schaatsen, snowpolo en skijoring. In de zomer nemen roeiers, zeilers en vissers het over.
We pauzeren voor een adembenemende panoramische stop bij de Maloja-pas, waar u kunt genieten van een prachtig uitzicht op de Alpen en de frisse berglucht kunt inademen voordat u terug naar Italië gaat.
Op weg van en naar de Bernina Line geniet u van een prachtig uitzicht op het Comomeer. In sommige gevallen kan een upgradestop bij het meer voor een mooie wandeling of diner beschikbaar zijn, onder voorbehoud van bevestiging met de reisorganisatie voor uw reis

Oleg was a fantastic guide. The trip was wonderful beginning to end. The Bernina train is beautiful and we made a few extra stops coming back to see special sites. We would definitely book woth Abroad tours again.
Oleg was great with communication and had some great recommendations for our stay in lake Como. He took us around the best parts of St Mortiz and when we road the train, he walked us on the train to our seats to make sure we were all set and was waiting for us on the other side when we were done! This was a highlight of our trip!
Oleg from Abroad Tours was fantastic in explaining history, economy and geography as he drove us from Milan through Lake Como to Tirano. Oleg settled us in the Bernina train with reserved window seats for the 4 of us on both sides of the train for the breathtaking ride to St Moritz. He was waiting for us in St Moritz and told us the history how St Moritz started as a tourist resort in mid 1800s as he showed us around the city. My family enjoyed the stop in Laderach chocolate shop. Oleg then safely drove us back to Milan along spectacular Alpine roads.
The tour was amazing, and Stefano was a fantastic guide. He was extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and made the entire experience enjoyable from start to finish. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone considering a private or small-group experience. Having done both large tour bus excursions and this smaller tour, I can confidently say the service, hospitality, attention to detail, and overall experience were far superior. It was well worth it, and I would not hesitate to book again.

My family of four visited Italy from Texas for a short one week vacation to celebrate our son's graduation. We truly enjoyed our private tour to sight-see in St. Moritz. The views from the Bernina train were breathtaking and certainly a once in a lifetime experience. Our guide, Oleg, was knowledgeable and kind. He helped us select traditional Swiss foods and drinks and elaborately explained details in regards to both Italian and Swiss cultures. He mentioned they offer other tours like wine tasting and tours to Lake Como which I would happily attend should I ever return. 10/10 stars, highly recommend this tour.

What an amazing experience with Stefano on the Bernina Express tour. The train and scenery exceeded all expectations. It was a truly special day. On a separate note Stefano went out of his way to help and support us on some other unrelated issues we had with a hotel. Personally we appreciated everything he did for us, especially since he didnt have to.
The view on the train was spectacular like nothing seen before. It is a 2 hour ride through the mountains however it felt like 30 minutes. Bring a camera. The windows on the train do slide down so there is no window glare. Our guide Stefano recommended a lovely restaurant in Switzerland. He was very accommodating and gave us plenty of time to shop after lunch. The drive to the train and home with both long but, Stefano is a wonderful conversationalist. It’s well worth it; you won’t regret the trip!
