Monumenten Herdenken het grote parcours van 1836, toen de kolonisten de Transvaalkolonie zouden stichten. ze kwamen enkele veldslagen tegen, zoals de strijd om de Blood River
Het huis van Paul Kruger op Nkomo Street 60, voorheen bekend als Church Str. huis met een gegalvaniseerd tinnen dak en een veranda is een museum met daarin het oude, originele pasmeubilair van de familie Kruger. Het huis ligt direct tegenover de Gereformeerde kerk, de kerk waar Oom Paul en zijn vrouw op zondag aanwezig waren en hij sprak wel een paar woorden als hij nodig was, ook al was hij nooit predikant. Bij de ingang vlak bij de Varender wordt u verwelkomd door de twee marmeren leeuwen, geschonken door de vriend van de Krugers, Barney Barnato.
Het stadhuis, met zijn gedoemde klokkentoren, werd ingehuldigd in 1935. De beiaard van 32 cilindrische klokken werd geschonken door Sir George Heys, de eerste eigenaar van Melrose House.
Melrose House, in Jacob Mare Street, is het huis waar op 31 mei 1902 de ondertekening van de Vereenigingsvrede plaatsvond om een einde te maken aan de oorlog in Zuid-Afrika. George Heys, de man van vele mysteries, tijdens de oorlog werd het huis door de Britten opgeëist als keizerlijk hoofdkwartier in Zuid-Afrika en werd het omgebouwd tot de residentie van Lord Roberts, de opperbevelhebber van de Britse strijdkrachten. Laten we verder praten terwijl we op tournee zijn!
Het hoofdkwartier van de Zuid-Afrikaanse regering is gevestigd op de Meintlies Kop en staat bekend als de Union Buildings. Het werd ontworpen door Sir Herbert Baker in de Renaissance met de klassieke idiomen. Gebouwd in 1910, voltooid in 1913.

Excellent. The guide is essential for knowing what to visit.
A great overview of Pretoria including the major sights. Our guide Ben was informative and has an indepth knowledge of the freezes inside the Voortrekker monument, which was extreamily interesting and educational. Admissions were included to the sites, and there is time to explore the Monument and Ditsong Kruger Museum.
Transport was included. The tour was very private, just us to and the driver. Therefore just by car. We visited 3 places, and the Foretracker Monument was the most interesting a d we got the most information. The other 2 places, we visited mostly alone.
Ben was very good, accommodated our wishes and was very pleasant. We felt safe all the time while visiting the center of Pretoria.

Really excellent trip around Pretoria including Vortrekker monument, Kruger house, downtown Pretoria & finishing wandering around beautiful gardens & viewing the 9m tall bronze Mandela monument . Brilliant educated guide👍

Thank you to Ben! He fetched us from our hotel and drove us on a historic to present day tour of Pretoria. We learned a lot about the area and some about South Africa in general. We had a great tour of the Voortrekker monument and farm grounds, Kruger house museum, and the Union buildings where the giant statue of Mandela is located. Funny story while at the statue: there were a lot of elementary students there that day and as I was climbing back up the steps two young girls said hello. I said hello back and one asked how old I am. I told her I am 70, and she said 'Wow! You're old!' : )) We drove by Church Square, beautiful Palace of Justice building, sadly an unsafe area. We highly recommend this tour, it was well worth our time.

Ben came to collect us at 9am sharp. He was warm, friendly and very knowledgeable. We visited the main sites of historical interest and had plenty of time to look around. Ben gave us lots of additional background information as we drove around and at the sites. The only negative was a lack of air conditioning in the car - we opened the windows.

An excellent half day tour. Ben was a great guide, knowledgeable without overload. The Vortrekker Museum was amazing and it is well worth spending the extra time there. We will always think of it at noon on 16th December!
