Je tour begint in de prachtige stad Queenstown. Terwijl we de stad uitrijden, zal uw gids niet alleen het decor vormen voor uw avontuur van vandaag, maar u ook wijzen en u langs enkele van de belangrijkste hoogtepunten van het gebied leiden.
Vanuit Queenstown kronkelen we rond Lake Wakatipu, met een prachtig uitzicht op ‘The Remarkables’ Mountain Range en het meer.
We gaan verder rond het meer en passeren Devil's Staircase. Dit verhoogde, winderige deel van de weg staat bekend om de dramatische foto's en het decor voor de komende dag.
Na nog meer fantastische uitzichten op de bergen, de rivier en de landbouwgronden komen we aan in Te Anau, de thuisbasis van Lake Te Anau, het op een na grootste meer van Nieuw-Zeeland. Terwijl we in dit idyllische stadje zijn, stoppen we voor een pauze en ontmoeten we misschien enkele van de lokale dieren of dieren in het wild. We gaan verder langs het meer en stoppen bij Te Anau Downs, het startpunt voor de Milford Track, om de verhalen te horen en de uitzichten te bewonderen.
Als we Te Anau verlaten en Fiordland National Park binnengaan, stoppen we in Eglinton Valley. Met uitzichten die Lord of the Rings waardig zijn, volgt deze vallei het pad van een oude gletsjer door Fiordland. Een van de eerste grote attracties als je het park binnenkomt, het is echt de basis voor een reis die alleen maar indrukwekkender wordt naarmate je dieper komt.
Onze volgende stop op dit epische avontuur is Mirror Lakes voor een korte wandeling om de beroemde weerspiegelingen van de Earl Mountains te zien. Zorg voor de juiste dag, maak een goede foto en niemand kan zien welke kant de juiste weg is voor de foto.
Als we verder gaan over de Milford Road, komen we Lake Gunn tegen. Vernoemd naar een beroemde ontdekkingsreiziger en populair om te vissen, stoppen we vaak bij Lake Gunn voor wat foto's en om te genieten van de rust.
Een klein eindje rijden we beginnen langs de Hollyford River, een prachtige en krachtige rivier vol grote rotsblokken en stroomversnellingen. Het uitmonden in de rivier bij Falls Creek is de eerste van onze extreem indrukwekkende watervallen in het gebied, een van de vele die nog zullen volgen.
Al klimmend gaan we dieper het Darran-gebergte in en deze uitzichten vereisen nog een stop om te bewonderen en foto's te maken. We komen ook in het gebied waar Kea ('s werelds grootste alpenpapegaai) graag leeft. Begin met het in de gaten houden van deze grote, brutale en kleurrijke vogels die altijd opwinden en entertainen wanneer ze worden gevonden.
Om onze weg terug naar de zee te vinden, gaan we de adembenemende, met de hand gebouwde Homer-tunnel in, waar we de ongelooflijke geschiedenis en verhalen horen. De vallei komt uit de tunnel en daalt scherp af richting Milford Sound en op een regenachtige dag stromen honderden watervallen langs de berghelling naar beneden.
We volgen de valleien naar de zee en komen aan bij Milford Sound, waar u aan boord gaat van uw cruise met Cruise Milford (de nummer 1 cruise-operator in Milford Sound op TripAdvisor).
Tijdens de boottocht kun je je vergapen aan de ontzagwekkende Mitre Peak, de iconische Milford Sound-berg, met zijn steile driehoekige top die hoog boven het reflecterende water van de Milford Sound uitsteekt.
Vervolgens stoppen we om het verhoogde geweldige uitzicht op de kloof in de Zuidelijke Alpen te bewonderen, dicht bij het begin van de Routeburn Track. Terwijl je hier bent, zal de gids je de verhalen vertellen van oude Maori-ontdekkingsreizigers.
Helaas moeten we terug naar Queenstown gaan, maar je dag is nog niet voorbij met een volledig begeleide terugreis en veel stops en pauzes onderweg.

Als uw locatie er niet bij staat, kies dan uw dichtstbijzijnde beschikbare optie en ontmoet ons daar. *Pick-ups kunnen beginnen tot 20 minuten voor de tour vertrektijd, afhankelijk van de locatie. Om een vlotte start te garanderen, gelieve buiten 5 minuten voor uw specifieke ophaaltijd klaar te staan en te wachten. *Pick-up locaties zijn zorgvuldig gepland voor elke tour en kan variëren per dag. Als uw ophaallocatie verandert, verzoeken wij u dit vooraf aan ons door te geven. *Onze gidsen maken meerdere stops en kunnen binnen een tijdsbestek van 10 minuten aankomen. We kunnen niet wachten op late gasten.

What a great experience it was experiencing the Milford Sounds! The day we went was super raining and cloudy, however that worked out because everywhere we looked were waterfalls. Danny, our guide, did an amazing job guiding us and giving us cool facts! Cheeky kiwis does an amazing job organizing everything and making sure we stopped for the best photos. It’s a must do when in Queenstown!
What an absolutely unforgettable experience! The Milford Sound Small Group Tour and Cruise from Queenstown was worth every single penny and every minute of the day. If you're visiting Queenstown, this should be at the very top of your bucket list. A huge thank you to our tour guide, Jason, who truly made the journey exceptional. His knowledge of the region was incredible, and he shared fascinating facts and stories throughout the trip. He was friendly, personable, funny, and always happy to help, making everyone feel comfortable and looked after. The small group setting made the experience feel much more intimate and personal than a large coach tour. The drive to Milford Sound was just as spectacular as the destination itself. We stopped at a variety of scenic locations along the way, each offering breathtaking views and plenty of opportunities for photos. Every stop showcased another incredible part of this country’s natural beauty. The Milford Sound cruise was simply unforgettable. Even though we experienced very rainy weather, it only added to the magic, with countless waterfalls cascading down the cliffs and creating some of the most breathtaking scenery we've ever seen. By the end of the trip you’ll be grateful for the rain. This tour exceeded all our expectations. From the incredible scenery and well-planned stops to Jason's outstanding guidance and the intimate atmosphere, everything was perfect. We couldn't recommend it more highly—it's truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience that everyone should have on their bucket list.

**A Long Day, but Absolutely Worth It!** This 13-hour tour may sound like a long day, and the drive to Milford Sound may seem far, but it is absolutely worth it! Our guide and driver for the day was Nicky, and she was cheerful, bubbly, and so much fun. We really enjoyed spending the day with her! We were picked up from our Queenstown hotel at 6:30 a.m. and headed toward Milford Sound with a small group of around 15 people. There were plenty of restroom breaks throughout the day, as well as a stop at a café around 9:30 a.m. for breakfast and coffee, which was the perfect pick-me-up. Afterward, we continued toward Milford Sound, enjoying incredible scenery and several beautiful lookout stops along the way. Nicky provided great commentary and even made additional stops so we could take photos and fully appreciate the views. The café also prepared boxed picnic lunches for us. Nicky collected the lunches and our cruise tickets, making everything feel organized and stress-free. Once we arrived at Milford Sound, we boarded a smaller cruise boat with around 30 passengers and enjoyed our lunches while cruising through the fiord. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking. Words cannot describe the beauty of the towering mountains, hills, and waterfalls. We were fortunate to have a beautiful day and even spotted some wildlife, including a seal swimming nearby! On the drive back to Queenstown, we had several more restroom stops and returned to the same café for another quick break. I used the time to feed the alpacas on the property! Alpaca food was available for only $1, so I bought some and shared it with a few other people from our tour. It was such a fun way to spend the 15-minute break. Another highlight happened while we were driving down the mountain and spotted a kea. Nicky pulled over so we could get a better look. The bird climbed all over someone’s car and then hopped onto our van! It was hilarious watching Nicky “protect the van,” since keas are known for picking at the rubber around cars. This was such a funny moment and I’m so glad she pulled over! These birds are so entertaining! We enjoyed the relaxing drive back and arrived in Queenstown at around 7:00 p.m. I even managed to take a small nap! Nicky provided snacks and water, and the van had both USB and USB-C charging outlets, which was very convenient. It was a truly spectacular and unforgettable day. Thank you, Nicky and Cheeky Kiwi Travel, for such an amazing Milford Sound experience!

We had Lynette as our guide for the trip and she was the loveliest. Had a load of stories to share about the history and legends of the areas we were passing and/or stopping at. The drive was also amazing, there was a good amount of stops to really make the trip that extra special for such a long drive. We got lucky and got a fabulous sunny winter day. Excellent tour with Jeff our tour guide. Very knowledgeable, funny and friendly. Length was a full day and felt like just a couple of hours. Fantastic stops all worth jumping out for.

The landscape and nature is extremely beautiful. Free coffee and tea, close up on waterfalls and extremely cool animals (penguins and seals). 10/10 very money worth. The driver also was very friendly and gave a lot of cool, fun facts. The photo opportunities are low-key crazy not even gonna lie. all facts and no opinions. This is my opinion and if you have a different opinion, your wrong.

The small hroup was fantastic, guide, the experience. However the lunch needs to be better. They should serve lunch on board the boat. Buffet style. Not picking up homemade from a servo. The small bag that is given containing a wet a sandwich that clearly the bread had been frozen, it was like a bad school lunch. It wasnt child friendly at all. With no other options. Very disappointed we all were very hungry by the end of the day.
