De Praagse Burcht werd hoogstwaarschijnlijk rond 880 gesticht door prins Bořivoj van de Premysliden-dynastie (Přemyslovci). Volgens het Guinness Book of World Records is de Praagse Burcht het grootste samenhangende kasteelcomplex ter wereld, met een oppervlakte van bijna 70.000 m². Het staat op de werelderfgoedlijst van UNESCO en bestaat uit een grootschalige compositie van paleizen en kerkelijke gebouwen met verschillende architecturale stijlen, van de overblijfselen van gebouwen in Romaanse stijl uit de 10e eeuw tot gotische aanpassingen van de 14e eeuw. De beroemde Sloveense architect Josip Plečnik was verantwoordelijk voor uitgebreide renovaties in de tijd van de Eerste Republiek (1918-1938). Sinds de Fluwelen Revolutie heeft de Praagse Burcht aanzienlijke en voortdurende reparaties en reconstructies ondergaan.

We were so lucky to have a private guide. We skipped the line to the castle and avoid crowds in Old Town. It is worthy becouse you will get a new perspective with someone who knows and who is local. Especialy Vojta was a great company.
