I had booked a guide with the Spanish language. There was no guide, but rather the use of one's own phone. I had booked a time slot. In reality, you can go without booking....
Really enjoyed the tour, liked the fact it was self guided, nobody rushing you Very well laid out, and signposted Port tasting very good, waiter was knowledgeable, no hard sell Liked the traditional approach
Excellent experience, the only thing is that you don't have a person as a guide, but at the time of the tasting, the waiter is super kind, in my case Antonio, and he answered all my questions as if he were a lifelong friend. That is a gem of an experience.
Self guided tour using an audio recording on your phone. A lot of history about the brand and how they make the wine. The you can taste 3 different wines at the end of the tour. Since it’s self guided, you can go as quickly or slowly as you want. Overall, it was a pretty good experience.
We traveled from Porto to Vila Nova de Gaia by train and on the way back as well. It was easy and pleasant. Over there, getting around was easier by taxi. We were lucky to be accommodated on a vineyard. The landscapes were magnificent with the Douro winding through the vineyards.
The self-guided interactive tour is entertaining and well done. One learns quite a bit about the history of Port wine and the Douro Valley. The winery is beautifully situated above the Douro in Vila Nova de Gaia, not far from Porto's iconic landmark, the two-tiered iron arch bridge Ponte Dom Luís I. After the tour, one tastes 3 different Port wines on a terrace with a great view over Porto. Not exactly cheap, especially when going in a group - but definitely worth the visit!
Had a nice and interesting audio tour, with a very nice port tasting excellently provided by Jose Machapo, only downside of the trip is that we did not know in advance that the audio tour was with your own phone, so had no earpieces with but was doable. Were afterwards also at Grahams (only tasting on the terrace) not recommended, and at Cahem (only tasting on the terrace) this was nice and saves coming up the mountain.
Had a excellent experience today with Taylor's, made even better by the wonderful support and care provided by José Machado.
Very good tour apart from the downloaded app guide crashing intermittently. Beautiful gardens where we had the tasting and really friendly and informative staff
The tour was good but we would recommend greater clarity in each step of the audio guide.
