We zijn geboren, getogen en hebben altijd in Porto gewoond, dus we kennen de stad als een local en omdat het een privétour is, zullen we deze aanpassen aan uw interesses. In deze privé food/wine tour zullen we ons richten op Portugese gastronomie, maar je leert veel over onze cultuur, geschiedenis en tradities, wat ons uniek maakt. U bezoekt de Bolhão markt en verschillende eetgelegenheden en tascas (traditionele winkels), terwijl u in contact komt met de lokale bevolking. Ontdek ondertussen de verhalen achter onze hoofdgerechten : de legende van de "tripeiros", naam gegeven aan de Porto-bewoners; u leert hoe "francesinha" wordt gemaakt, die "calorische bom" die u niet mag missen en de smakelijke kabeljauwrecepten, zo belangrijk in onze cultuur. We zullen het harmoniseren met onze Portugese wijnen en de diverse druiven en wijngebieden uitleggen. En hoe zit het met onze taarten, zoals pastel de nata of Jesuita? Geniet van meer! Ervaar meer!

Onze geaccrediteerde Gids ontmoet u bij de binnenklok van het treinstation van São Bento. De muurschilderingen vertegenwoordigen momenten in de geschiedenis van het land, en de veelkleurige panelen tonen landelijke scènes van de mensen van verschillende regio's, evenals de 2 wijngebieden in het noorden van Portugal. De lokale bevolking staat bekend als "Tripeiros", en u ontdekt de legende achter, die verband houdt met de verovering van Ceuta (1415), met de hoofdfiguur van Infante D. Henrique, die de Moren onderwierp. Het station is gelegen in het historische centrum van Porto, dat is uitgeroepen tot UNESCO World Heritage Site en een Nationaal Monument van Portugal. Ervaar onze zure kersenlikeur, ginja, in een chocoladebeker. De geschiedenis is vooral een familie- en lokaal verhaal waarvan het recept de laatste 2 eeuwen onaangetast is gebleven.
Probeer de nata te pastelleren met een kopje koffie. Tegelijkertijd kijk je naar de beheersing en vaardigheid die komt kijken bij het maken van een pastel de nata, van het vormen van het deeg in de vormen tot het vullen met de room, die tot aan de rand moet worden geplaatst, met uiterste precisie.
Ervaar verschillende kleine proeverijen en ontdek onze smaakervaringen gemaakt met de beste Portugese grondstoffen, beschermde oorsprongsbenaming (DOP) of biologisch fruit, gemengd met Portugese wijnen, aromatische kruiden en specerijen.
Ontdek onze uitstekende extra vierge olijfolie tijdens een olijfolie workshop. Begeleid het met een kaas- en vleesplank, olijfoliecrackers en droog fruit met een Douro DOC-wijn.

We had a wonderful afternoon exploring many delicious venues. A flavorful shredded pork sandwich- a favorite of the locals, was first on the list. This was followed by a stroll through an historic market sampling wines, sardines, fresh oysters and stuffed dates and figs. The next treat we enjoyed was a sample of Ginjinha, a delicious cherry liquor available at a family owned shop. After a short walk we attended a luscious olive oil tasting complete with Portuguese cheese and charcuterie. A stop at a unique shop featuring jams, honey and chocolate spreads flavored with fruit was amazing. The perfect finish was a visit to a pastry shop for an espresso and the quintessential Portuguese pastry, Pasteis de Nata. Highly recommend.

We had the greatest time touring with Oporto & Douro Moments! My husband and I had traveled to Porto once before but wanted to try something different this time. We booked a walking food and wine tour on a Sunday morning and it was the perfect way to see the city (definitely wear comfy shoes!) and get to learn a little more about the history and the special dishes of Porto!
