Ontdek de geschiedenis van Portugal met een kaartje voor de ingang van Porto's World of Discoveries. Great service starting with the shuttle service, great guides and equipment. The tour route was very scenic and a great combination of off road and educational stops. Highly recommended!!
When we arrived at the ticket-desk, the girl there didn't speak a word of English. That is ridiculous! This is one of the main tourist attractions in the city, and we are in 2026! And as far as I know, English is not exactly an exotic language... :( :(

Fantastic museum with boat ride inside the museum with explanatory audio and very nice to accompany. Experience to repeat.

It was a little jaded. The interactive activities didn’t work very well. The boat ride could be updated, The ride became a bit boring. It wasn’t as fun as we expected. A four year old didn’t engage with it at all but perhaps he was a little young. However with a little bit of updating I think it could appeal to all ages.

An amazing experience, well worth the money paid, boat cruise ended the experience brilliantly. Good for children and adults
It is a nice musuem very interactive. At the end there is a boat ride. We got the boat with German story although we aske for English. Try to make sure they have set the correct language before you take off. I tried buying tickets online but it said there were sold out so we went there in person and bought the tickets without any problem. There is usually a line for the boat ride but we waited only 20-30 minutes.
This museum seems to maintain a favorable romantic view of colonialism while hiding the suffering of the people decimated by the conquerors. The museum could very well refer to history in a more critical way, at least condemning the millions of lives lost as a result of colonization and the slave trade. But quite the opposite, enslaved people are mentioned only as an asset exploited by European conquerors. I am shocked that this view still exists in the 21st century.
After my visit to the interactive 'World of Discovery' museum in Porto, dedicated to the history of Portuguese navigation which they describe as a 'fantastic odyssey', I am deeply shocked. In this museum, colonial history is embellished and presented as a glorious period, while human trafficking is deliberately glossed over. It is difficult to understand how such revisionist interpretations can persist into the 21st century, glorifying this so-called 'great epic'. I feel a deep disgust for having contributed financially to this museum visit which participates in this great deception. I feel obliged to denounce the fact that such museum interpretations should be banned today. 'World of Discoveries' embodies the height of colonialism, adopting a point of view that minimizes and conceals the tragic part of this history, despite its current condemnation. Colonizing countries have a responsibility, when discussing this history, to at least condemn the billions of lives lost due to colonization and the slave trade. This museum seems to contribute to maintaining a favorable vision of colonialism while obscuring the tragedy inflicted on the peoples decimated on the route of the conquistadors.
We went for a family visit (children, parents and grandparents) and it is a museum suitable for everyone and all ages. Very interactive, important information and presented in an easy way. Fun and the boat ride is great for children. We took the opportunity to have lunch at the restaurant, good food and a very pleasant space. Very friendly and attentive staff.
