Luister naar live fado in de enige winkel in Porto die nog steeds handgemaakte Portugese gitaren maakt. Deze voorstelling vindt plaats in Casa da Guitarra, de enige winkel in de stad die nog steeds handgemaakte Portugese snaarinstrumenten, zoals de Portugese gitaar, vervaardigt en tentoonstelt. Luister een uur lang naar traditionele fado live uitgevoerd door lokale artiesten, met de Portugese gitaar bespeeld door de gitaarbouwer en oprichter zelf. De locatie is klein en akoestisch intiem, ontworpen om je de emotie van fado van dichtbij te laten ervaren. Geniet van de muziek met een glas portwijn. Het is meer dan alleen een concert, het is een culturele onderdompeling : u kunt de tentoonstelling van traditionele instrumenten verkennen en ontdekken waarom fado sinds 2011 is erkend als een UNESCO Immaterieel Cultureel Erfgoed van de Mensheid. This was one of my favorite experiences in Portugal! The performances were so beautiful and I was happy the audience wasn’t all recording everything on their phones. It was nice to just experience the music.

A convenient location for a commercial type fado show. There are other options that are better and slightly more economical.
Dear Michael, Thank you for your review. We are sorry that you found our fado to be commercial, given that our concert presents fado in its purest and most traditional form. As we explained at the entrance, the concert unfolds spontaneously, with the fado singer choosing what to sing on the spot, depending on how she feels at that moment. Furthermore, Casa da Guitarra was the first venue in Porto to offer fado concerts in the form of a show, and its long-standing reputation has indeed helped it establish itself on one of the busiest streets in the city centre. What a treat. Excellent musicians, varied programme and a glass of port! An intimate venue with a small audience. A real highlight of our holiday , even though we didn’t understand the wards the performers conveyed the emotions beautifully
