Verken drie iconische bakens die zeilers al eeuwenlang begeleiden, elk met een kans om zich te verdiepen in hun rijke geschiedenis. Hoewel de meeste vuurtorens niet open zijn voor rondleidingen, krijg je toch van dichtbij uitzicht en volop mogelijkheden om hun prachtige architectuur en schilderachtige omgeving te bewonderen. Terwijl u door de schilderachtige kustlijn van Portland navigeert, wordt u omringd door adembenemende uitzichten die even gedenkwaardig als prachtig zijn. Deze gerichte, ontspannen tour is de perfecte manier om verbinding te maken met het maritieme verleden terwijl u geniet van de charme van het kustlandschap van Maine.

Of u nu voor het eerst komt of Portland al jaren thuis noemt, deze tour biedt een frisse en boeiende manier om de omgeving van Greater Portland te verkennen. Rijd comfortabel aan boord van een van onze Ford Transit-passagiersbusjes, terwijl we door het hart van de stad en de schilderachtige omgeving reizen. Beginnend op tour, rijden we Fore Street af, een charmante historische doorgang die parallel loopt aan een van de laatste werkende waterkanten van Noord-Amerika. We komen langs geplaveide straten, bakstenen rijen gebouwen en enkele van Portlands meest iconische winkels, brewpubs en restaurants – veel gehuisvest in de oudste commerciële en residentiële structuren van de stad. De mix van ouderwetse charme en moderne energie maakt deze buurt een lokale favoriet.
Loop door Fort Williams Park, de thuisbasis van Portland Head Light! Een van de meest gefotografeerde vuurtorens ter wereld! Met klifwandelingen, gedenktekens en adembenemende uitzichten, kun je foto's maken, het Lighthouse-museum/cadeauwinkel "mei-september" bezoeken en ook een hapje/traktatie krijgen bij een paar van de parkfoodtrucks, kreeftbroodjes, chowder , gelato, whoopie-taarten!
Spring Point Ledge Light, we parkeren en stoppen gedurende 10 minuten. Hier zal uw gids het belang uiteenzetten van deze vuurtoren, gelegen op een 300 meter hoge granieten golfbreker, de militaire installaties uit het begin van de 19e eeuw in het gebied en het schilderachtige uitzicht op onze kusteilanden Casco Bay! Vraag uw gids om foto's die tijdens deze stop zijn gemaakt.
Hier bij Portland Breakwater Light, bekend als "Bug Light" voor de lokale bevolking, krijgt u 20 minuten de tijd om een van de kleinste vuurtorens van Maine te bezoeken die nog in gebruik zijn. Met prachtige Griekse Korinthische zuilen bevindt deze vuurtoren zich op een veel kortere/veiligere golfbreker waar je naar buiten kunt lopen en kunt genieten van een fantastisch uitzicht op de waterkant van Portland!
Als we onze tour beëindigen, rijden we door Commercial Street, je krijgt een glimp van een van Noord-Amerika's laatste werkende waterkanten. Dit iconische stuk in de oude havenwijk van Portland bevat geplaveide straten, 19e-eeuwse vissershavens en bruisende pieren die nog steeds worden gebruikt door kreeftenmannen en lokale vissers. Je ziet ook een levendige mix van boetieks, restaurants en pubs, allemaal gevestigd in enkele van de oudste bakstenen/granieten gebouwen van de stad.

This was a nice tour to kickback, learn about the area, and see some lighthouses. Our tour guide was Ali, who is from New England. The van had a PA system and air-conditioning. It’s with a small group (about 10 passengers). The first lighthouse stop let us walk around for about 25 minutes— there was also a food trunk where you could get lobster rolls and gelato. The second stop was 10 minutes, and the final was 15 minutes. In between, as we were driving, Ali provided local history information and suggestions for restaurants. A cold bottle of water was offered, if needed. The trip concluded with a small complimentary pour at the beer hub.
The tour and guide, Erik, was fabulous! Loved that we met at the Portland Beer Hub, and they said that this could now be our home away from home… stop in anytime to use restroom when we're out and about, etc. We learned so much history about Portland and the lighthouses, plus we were given great recommendations for restaurants and other things to do while we were in town. This was the perfect thing to do on our first full day in Portland. Because of Erik's suggestion, we did a day trip to Peaks Island later in the week and that was a true highlight! 100% recommend!
I enjoyed my tour with Eric. He was extremely knowledgeable about the history of Maine and highlighted a lot of Easter eggs along the way. Talk revolved around gelato, sturgeons, and lobsters. He made the tour very personal and we appreciated that. We were blown away by the views and the food stops. The lobster rolls is a must always.

Eric was our guide and is extremely knowledgeable and we would highly suggest that you take this tour on the front end of your trip. He provided us with amazing suggestions on where to eat, what to do and where to go.
Great tour of the lighthouses in the area. We enjoyed our tour guide John. He was personable and drove a spacious sprinter type van. We loved the inclusion of a 5oz pour at the Portland Beer Hub that we could have before or after the tour. Nice touch!

My daughter and I had only five hours in Portland before driving to our final destination so this was our only time in Portland. I had received a text the evening before asking if we could change our tour to an earlier time. I said we couldn’t because our flight wouldn’t make it for the earlier tour. They said no problem. Come at your scheduled time. When we got there, we discovered it was just us and the guide for the tour. He did a fantastic job, giving us history of Portland, showing us everything that was on the schedule and allowing us to have a little more time at stops that were of interest to the two of us. He took pictures of us together and was so congenial. It was a lovely tour. I applaud the company for letting the tour go on even if it was just the two of us. I was really hoping they wouldn’t cancel because my daughter and I had really been looking forward to it. I recommend this tour.
