AlmaDouro is ontstaan uit liefde voor de rivier en de stad. Voor ons is luxe simpel: warmte, authenticiteit en oprechte aandacht voor de details. Ga mee op een gezellige boottocht op de Douro in een kleine groep (max. 7 personen) vanuit Douro Marina, vlakbij het vissersdorp Afurada. Ontdek Porto gedurende ongeveer twee uur vanaf de rivier, terwijl we onder de iconische bruggen doorvaren en langs de historische waterkanten van Ribeira en Vila Nova de Gaia. Aan boord kunt u genieten van een informele proeverij van 4 kwaliteitsportwijnen van kleine producenten uit de Douro-regio, samengesteld in samenwerking met Blend.pt, geserveerd met kleine hapjes die bij elk glas passen (geen maaltijd). Muziek, wifi, toilet en warme dekens voor koelere dagen zijn inbegrepen. Geen drukte, geen microfoons — alleen een ontspannen sfeer, gesprekken en de schoonheid van Porto, op de AlmaDouro-manier.

Douro Marina; We beginnen onze reis bij Douro Marina, in het pittoreske en traditionele dorp Afurada.
Ontworpen door de Italiaanse architect Nicolau Nasoni, de meer dan 75 meter lange Clérigos-toren, werd voltooid in 1763. Aanvankelijk had de functie een klokkentoren, maar in de loop der jaren werd hij ook gebruikt als herkenningspunt voor schepen en als strategisch punt voor militaire strijd. Het bezoek aan Torre dos Clérigos omvat een reis van 225 treden naar de top, waar u kunt genieten van een panoramisch uitzicht over de stad Porto en Gaia.
Het is een metalen brug met twee dekken, gebouwd tussen 1881 en 1886, die de steden Porto en Vila Nova de Gaia met elkaar verbindt, gescheiden door de rivier de Douro.
Een bezoek aan Ribeira kon natuurlijk niet ontbreken. De beste en mooiste ansichtkaart van de stad, met al zijn kleuren, leven en geschiedenis, Durf het te leren kennen!
Het Serra do Pilar-klooster is sober 17e-eeuwse kerk. Het is sindsdien door UNESCO geclassificeerd als werelderfgoed 1996. De kerk, geclassificeerd als Nationaal Monument, valt op door haar cirkelvormige plattegrond, bedekt door een imposant halfrond gewelf, omgeven door een balkon en bekroond door een lantaarn. Binnen valt het vergulde en witte gesneden werk op. Het heeft een prachtig klooster, ook geclassificeerd als Nationaal Monument, met een rond gewelf met een centrale ribbe ondersteund door 36 Ionische zuilen. Dit maniëristische klooster is een uniek voorbeeld in Portugal, aangezien de kerk en het klooster een cirkelvormige plattegrond hebben, een model afkomstig uit de civiele architectuur. De geografische ligging was cruciaal in 1809, tijdens de invasies door Napoleontische troepen en in 1832-1833 als militaire basis tijdens de liberale strijd. Verheven tot de categorie fort, is het sindsdien omgebouwd tot militaire kazerne
De D. Maria Pia-brug is een spoorweginfrastructuur die de Noordelijke Lijn over de rivier de Douro voerde, tussen de steden Porto en Vila Nova de Gaia, in het noorden van Portugal. Het werd ingehuldigd op 4 november 1877 en gesloten op 24 juni 1991, nadat het werd vervangen door de Ponte de São João. Het wordt, samen met het Garabit-viaduct, beschouwd als de grootste meesterwerken van ingenieur Gustave Eiffel. Ten tijde van de inhuldiging was het de brug met de grootste ijzeren boog ter wereld. Sindsdien is het geclassificeerd als Nationaal Monument 1982.
Met een oppervlakte van 66,35 ha ligt het lokale natuurreservaat Douro Estuary aan de zuidelijke oever van de monding van deze rivier, dicht bij het vissersdorpje Afurada, dat Cabedelo en de baai van São Paio omvat, waar zich een kwelder bevindt. Onder de natuurlijke waarden die het beschermt, gaat het hoogtepunt naar de vogels die hier leven of hier doorheen trekken en die gemakkelijk kunnen worden waargenomen, aangezien het zich bevindt op de trekcorridor die bekend staat als de "Oost-Atlantische Route".

There are many boats that do the same 6 bridges trip, so it’s all about the crew. Paulo and Nadie were very friendly and made us feel among friends. They supplied us with hats, music and adjusted drinks to our taste. There’s space on the boat with shade and also in the open for sun seekers.

Incredible experience! What a lovely boat with amazing hosts. We loved cruising the river, seeing Porto from the water, and tasting some fine port wines. Nadia and Paulo were extremely hospitable and even gave my two-year-old his own "wine" (juice) and snacks to share in the experience. They also made sure to have a life jacket available for him, which was important to us. Could not recommend this enough. Lovely, intimate experience where you're treated as one of the family. Major plus was having one of the best port tastings you could ask for!

We didn’t have an idea of how the tour would be and were happily surprised. We were greeted by our hosts Nadia and her husband and immediately were presented with warm reception. When we were onboard were accommodated and made feel as if it were the boat owners and they were there to sail boat for us while we relaxed and took in the scenery. They provided a delicious port wine tonic cocktail as a welcome drink which was absolutely delicious and refreshing. The provided a lot of history of the region and six bridges on the Dourous River. We were also presented with a great charcuterie board and other delicious port wine tonic. They had warm blankets to shelter us from the cold weather. A very lovely and hospitable couple. Thank you both for giving us such an amazing experience.

We were in Porto in November, a bit unlucky with bad weather, on the day of the cruise on the Douro river we arrive at the meeting point and we discover that we are the only two participants. We thought we'd be asked to cancel or move, and instead we left anyway. It was a beautiful and surreal experience, very few boats on the river, at one point we were the only ones with the whole view to ourselves. The weather also graced us and we were able to enjoy part of the trip outside, sipping port wine and relaxing. It was a really nice experience. Thanks to Nadia and Paulo who treated us divinely, two very kind, nice and super professional people!

This was THE best port tasting experience I had (I did 3 while in Porto). This husband and wife team really know what they are doing. She thoughtfully paired the different ports with foods that enhanced the flavor. No boring lectures here. And as we passed landmarks little anecdotes were told, very endearing. Even though there were no sunsets to be seen, this is THE port tasting experience in Porto. Thank you Nadia and Paulo!

We had a wonderful time on this sunset boat tour in Porto! We sat on the outside seating on the boat and were very comfortable, when it got colder we were immediatly offered blankets. It felt like the whole experience was well planned and thought through. The views of the city from the water were stunning, and the experience was made even better with a delicious cheeseboard, drinks, and a lovely port wine tasting. The couple who run the tour are so warm and welcoming, and they also share interesting explanations about the landmarks along the river, which made the ride even more special. Generaly the whole experience felt very personal and authentic – truly a highlight of our trip and highly recommended!
