Ervaar 's werelds enige dagelijkse plaatsnamen wandeltocht, een intieme, luxe ervaring (max 8 gasten) langs de prachtige Wild Atlantic Way. Regelmatig te zien op tv en in de media, deze unieke tour ontsluit de verborgen geschiedenis van Castlehaven door middel van zijn plaatsnamen - onthullen Viking handelaren, Gaelische stamhoofden en lang verloren manieren van leven. Ontdek namen als Carrig na Saighneoirí, een kleine landtong genoemd naar de middeleeuwse pilchardvissers die de O’Driscolls en O’Donovans net zo rijk maakten als de Europese koninklijke familie. Verken Beann tSídháin (piek van de feeën ) en An Glaisín Álainn (het prachtige beekje), waar het landschap zelf een verhaal vertelt. Na introducties op ons vertrekpunt geeft uw gids een kort overzicht van de geplande route en enkele veiligheidstips voor het lopen op de offroad-secties.
Onze eerste stop is bij Jim Barry's Cross, waar we kort de wetenschap en studie van plaatsnamen bespreken en een deel van de geschiedenis achter Ierse plaatsnamen.
Onze 2e stop is ongeveer 100 meter off-road op de Legach, dit is een geweldig mooie stop aan de rand van de oceaan. Op basis van plaatsnamen delen we hier enkele verbazingwekkende verhalen over hoe lokale boeren kunstmest uit de zee haalden om hun aardappelen en andere gewassen te verbouwen.
Onze 3e stop is bij het strand van Sandy Cove. Hier bespreken we hoe zand werd geoogst door lokale boeren met behulp van paarden en ezels.

It was an amazing excursion. We were pleasantly surprised by a breakfast of coffee and delicious homemade cookies. The views were breathtaking. Connor is a fantastic storyteller.
I went with the Erasmus group from Spain. We enjoy it lot. A lot of passion in what he do! :)
The major highlight of our trip to Cork has been a walking tour with Conor of Gormú Tours, “Placenames and their Amazing Stories in West Cork.” Conor had his work cut out for him trying to balance both my and my husband’s endless questions, alongside our five year old daughter’s desire to run and play, and he did so beautifully. It was quite literally the perfect day—I learned so much! It’s incredible to see how much passion Conor has for his home and for the Irish language, and to get to benefit from his wealth of knowledge. Our tour ended with the most delicious picnic of local artisanal foods (including strawberries that had been picked off the vine only hours before!), and boiled fruitcake made by Conor’s wife that can only be described as life-alteringly good! We are already looking forward to going on some of Conor’s other tours next time we make the trip to Ireland. I cannot recommend it enough!

Conor is an amazing storyteller! We spent the whole day with him and learned so much. About myths, legends, and history… He’s not the best because of what he tells, but because of how he tells it and how he connects with his audience. I could have stayed listening to him for a whole week!
