Zonder een lokale Gids is het gemakkelijk om langs de opmerkelijke architectuur, oude legendes en artistieke schatten te lopen die Pisa onvergetelijk maken. Alleen al het verkennen van de stad kan je de bezienswaardigheden laten zien, maar je loopt het risico de hartslag van de stad en de verhalen die het tot leven brengen te missen. De Mura di Pisa zijn de oude stadsmuren van Pisa, gebouwd in de 12e eeuw om de stad te beschermen. Ze strekken zich uit over ongeveer 7 kilometer en bieden een unieke verhoogde loopbrug met panoramisch uitzicht op de historische bezienswaardigheden van Pisa, waaronder de iconische scheve toren.
De scheve toren van Pisa is een wereldberoemd architectonisch wonder, bekend om zijn onbedoelde kanteling. Deze vrijstaande klokkentoren werd voltooid in de 14e eeuw en maakt deel uit van de kathedraal van Pisa. De toren is 56 meter hoog en zijn iconische helling is te wijten aan onstabiele funderingsgrond.
De kathedraal van Pisa, ook bekend als de Duomo di Pisa, is een prachtig voorbeeld van Romaanse architectuur. Gebouwd in de 11e eeuw, heeft het een ingewikkelde marmeren façade, grote bogen en bronzen deuren. Gelegen aan de Piazza dei Miracoli, maakt het deel uit van het UNESCO-werelderfgoed van Pisa, samen met de scheve toren en het Baptisterium.
Het Baptisterium van Sint-Jan in Pisa is het grootste baptisterium in Italië, beroemd om zijn elegante romaanse en gotische architectuur. Het werd voltooid in de 14e eeuw en staat op de Piazza dei Miracoli, vlak bij de kathedraal en de scheve toren. De unieke koepel zorgt voor een opmerkelijke akoestiek en het interieur heeft een prachtig marmeren doopvont en een preekstoel van Nicola Pisano.
De Camposanto Monumentale, of Monumentale Begraafplaats, in Pisa is een serene en historische begraafplaats gelegen op de Piazza dei Miracoli. Gebouwd in de 13e eeuw, beschikt het over een gotisch klooster vol met sierlijke graven en oude Romeinse sarcofagen. De muren waren ooit versierd met beroemde fresco's, waarvan sommige vandaag de dag nog steeds zichtbaar zijn.

One of the best tours I've ever had. I've travelled the world and had many different tours and this was one of my favourites. The guide was engaging and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend. You could tell she was local to the area and had lived there for a while too, which really makes a difference. Fascinating site with so much history attached to it.

Great guide attended us, very didactic. Excellent visit and explanation about the history of the city and the famous inclined tower.
Our guide Alice was good, but worked out of a folder for most of the tour, compared to similar tours we've been on, this was expensive for what it was. It definitely doesn't need 1.5 hours to walk around the square and learn the history. Was nice to learn historical pointers but could've easily been done within an hour.

This was an excellent tour of the square in Pisa. Our guide, Alice, was so enthusiastic about her city and gave us a lot of interesting information. She also recommended local dishes to try. The tour lasted 2 hours and the time went very quickly.
For us this tour was perfect for the amount of time we wanted to spend in the Piazza dei Miracoli. Our guide Fanny talked about all the buildings in the piazza and also included general info about Pisa and its history.
Wonderful guided tour with guide Alice, very entertaining and entertaining, also for our children (14 years and 16 years). It brings history to life and you learn so much about the cathedral and its surroundings that you see it through different eyes afterwards. Clear recommendation, absolutely worth it!
After this beautiful trip through Italy, Pisa is one of my favorite cities, not only for its leaning tower, but also for its history and cuisine. This tour is the perfect activity to truly get to know Pisa.
