Om 9:00 uur wordt u begroet door uw privégids in uw hotel in Pingyao, begint u de dag. De Shuanglin-tempel, ook bekend als "Double Forest Temple", ligt op ongeveer 20 minuten rijden van de oude binnenstad van Pingyao. De Shuanglin-tempel werd ongeveer 1500 jaar geleden gebouwd en staat bekend om zijn oude sprinkhanenbomen, steles, fresco's en met name meer dan 2.000 levendige en goed bewaarde in kleur geschilderde moddersculpturen.
Daarna rijdt u ongeveer een uur om Wang Family Mansion te bezoeken. Dit enorme prachtige binnenplaatscomplex bevindt zich op een hoger gelegen terrein met uitzicht op een weids landschap. De gebouwen en decoraties weerspiegelen de strikte sociale hiërarchie van die tijd, en alle gravures en standbeelden hebben veel betekenissen en verhalen erachter. Na de rondleiding keert u om ongeveer 16:00 uur terug naar uw hotel in Pingyao.

We were staying in Shanxi for only three days, but we really wanted to see as many sights as possible. We approched Trippest for transfer in advance and the Company helped us to implement our complicated plan. As a result, we had a good time to see Datong, visited the Yungang Grottoes, Yingxian Wooden Pagoda, spent time in the Mount Wutai, walked around Pingyao, and even saw extraordinary ancient sculptures in the Foguang Temple, Nanchan Temple, Zhenguo Temple and Shuanglin Temple. This was only possible thanks to precise organization by Travel Advisor of China Highlights Travel Co.,Ltd. Ms. Heidi Li, who organized our itinerary ensuring we saw everything on our list. To save us time, she bought all the tickets in advance and oversaw by WeChat us a throughout the trip. In addition to the transfer, we actually received a very professional guide. <p>Our tour guide, Michael, was punctual, friendly and very knowledgeable. His English was excellent. Wang Family Mansion is well worth a visit. It gave really good insights into Chinese family life in the past. Michael brought the experience to life by adding details that you couldn't get just by looking at the buildings. For instance, he explained the differences in the lives of sons and daughters.<br/> We would have been happy to have just visited the Wang Family Mansion, but we thought that the Shuanglin Temple was a reasonably interesting add on. Again Michael gave us lots of relevant information about this Buddhist temple. <br/> Lunch was at our hotel. We didn't get a choice of food. However the food was very tasty. We would have preferred to have been taken to a different restaurant and to have chosen from the menu and for Michael and the driver to have been allowed to join us. This is what happened on our other guided tour.</p>
