Rijd door de Henderson Valley voor een spectaculair verhoogd uitzicht op de Waitakere Ranges vanuit het Aratkai Visitors Centre. Dit beschermde regionale reservaat werd oorspronkelijk gebruikt voor de winning van inheems hout in koloniale dagen toen Auckland werd gevestigd in de jaren 1860. Vervolgens bezoeken we de prachtige West Coast black sand surf beach settlement van Piha. Maak wandelingen op zowel Noord- als Zuid-Piha stranden. Geniet van een wandeling van 25 minuten door het regenwoud. Maak foto’s van ‘Lion Rock’ Na een rit van 50 minuten door het regenwoud kunt u wijn proeven en een open menu lunch nemen in Soljans Vineyard Restaurant. Soljans, opgericht in 1937, biedt een innovatief menu met een scala aan lokale verse vis, steak, lam, kip, vegetarische en andere gerechten. In de middag bezoeken we het pittoreske West Brook Winery waar ze een uniek portfolio van witte en rode variëteiten hebben waarvan u kunt genieten met uitzicht op de wijngaard.

Piha is een surfstrand aan de westkust op 50 km van Auckland met een bevolking van ongeveer duizend inwoners. Het is geïsoleerd zonder openbaar vervoer en is populair vanwege surfen, natuur en wandelen. Beschouwd als een van de juwelen in de kroon van Auckland, is het een geweldige dagtocht voor mensen om te zwemmen, surfen, wandelen, kamperen of gewoon ontspannen op de zwarte zandstranden en genieten van het prachtige bos en landschap.
Soljans Estate is een Kroatische wijnmakersfamilie van de vijfde generatie. Proef wijnen uit hun Auckland Vineyard zij en variëteiten van druiven geteeld in Hawkes Bay en Marlborough. Ze hebben ook een uitstekende bekroonde wijngaardbistro waar u kunt genieten van een lunch met een open menu.
Pioniers in de Nieuw-Zeelandse wijnbouw sinds 1944, Kumeu River is gespecialiseerd in het produceren van Estate Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir en Methode Traditionelle van druiven geteeld op hun eigen tien Kumeu en Huapai wijngaarden. Mate’s barrique gegiste Chardonnay wordt beschouwd als een van de beste wijnen van het land. Na het behalen van zijn bachelor in Oenologische Wetenschappen in Australië werd de wijnmaker Michael Brajkovich MW de eerste Master of Wine in Nieuw-Zeeland en is hij opperrechter geweest van de Air New Zealand Wine Competition. U geniet van een begeleide proeverij van vijf wijnen in de kelderdeur en gaat vervolgens op een fascinerende rondleiding achter de schermen door het eigenlijke wijnhuis waar u uit eerste hand het proces wordt getoond om Chardonnay op vat te maken. Van het begin tot het einde van het proces, het persen van druiven vervolgens naar beneden in de vatenkamer en uiteindelijk terug door de tankboerderij en bottellijn. Geen enkel ander tourbedrijf kan u dit laten zien.

John is by far the best guide we've ever had. The experience he provided went far beyond wine tasting. Not only did we enjoy exceptional wines, but we also gained valuable insights into New Zealand's culture, history, and geography. Our schedule got seriously messed up when a cyclone swept through the Auckland area. That said, John was fantastic working with us to accommodate our schedule, and was able to combine our group with a couple who were touring with him on the day we finally made it to Auckland. The winery tours were excellent - we learned the history of the families who came to New Zealand to establish their businesses, and lunch at Soljans was outstanding! Our visit to the shore was a little rainy, but we still were able to see the black sand beaches and the areas where gannets were recently gathering. Big thank you to John for his efforts to make our visit to Auckland a pleasure!
John was the perfect operator, initially unobtrusively giving us an outline of our day, then honing in on our questions in detail. The beach was something else to see in person, pictures don't show how awesome the view is. The lunch and wine sampling was top notch. John with his many years of doing tours was very knowledgeable and made things run smoothly but you felt never rushed.

This excursion was absolutely fantastic. The views were breathtaking and the stops were made were perfect. John was the perfect guide. We went to two wonderful wineries and stopped for a spectacular lunch of fresh fish. John went way out of his way to make this adventure a day to remember. My sister and I had the best time and we loved every minute of it. I needed to buy a medical device and asked John where I can buy it. He not only told me where to get it, but he went out of his way to take me to this place to buy it and drove me back to the hotel. This man is an angel and we were lucky enough to have met him.
Very inclusive tour with beautiful scenery, great wine tastings at 2 local wineries, delicious meal. Guide very engaging and knowledgeable. Took in beaches, lake views, rainforest, waterfalls, etc. Be prepared with comfortable walking shoes, layered clothing.
