Onze excursie naar de Salar de Atacama en de Altiplanische lagunes neemt je mee naar de verschillende lagunes op grote hoogte, om de prachtige landschappen te observeren en de inheemse fauna en flora te ontdekken. Onder de bezienswaardigheden die we zullen bezoeken zijn het Flamencos National Reserve en de Chaxa Lagoon; De lagunes Miscanti en Miñique, gelegen op meer dan 4.000 meter boven de zeespiegel en de stad Toconao. Absoluut een rit die je niet mag missen!

Ons avontuur begint vroeg, tussen 06:00 en 06:30 uur, vanuit je hotel in San Pedro de Atacama, om het meeste uit de dag te halen en ons onder te dompelen in de verbazingwekkende diversiteit aan landschappen die ons te wachten staan.
We stijgen naar een indrukwekkende 4.000 meter boven de zeespiegel totdat we de Piedras Rojas bereiken, een unieke geologische formatie die wordt gekenmerkt door zijn intens rode rotsen die spectaculair contrasteren met het turquoise water van het meer eromheen. Hier krijgt u de gelegenheid om dit surrealistische landschap te verkennen en prachtige foto's te maken.
We blijven stijgen totdat we bijna 4.200 meter boven de zeespiegel bereiken, waar de indrukwekkende Miscanti en Miñiques Altiplanic-lagunes op ons wachten. Deze prachtige hooggebergtelagunes, gelegen in het Los Flamencos National Reserve, bieden droomachtige panoramische uitzichten, omgeven door majestueuze bergen en een leefgebied voor een verscheidenheid aan dieren in het wild. Het is een perfecte tijd om vogels te kijken en ons onder te dompelen in de natuurlijke schoonheid van de regio.
Daarna gaan we naar de stad Socaire.
Onze volgende bestemming is de fascinerende Laguna Chaxa, onderdeel van de uitgestrekte Salar de Atacama. Deze zoute lagune is de thuisbasis van flamingo's en andere watervogels, aangetrokken door het hoge gehalte aan zout en voedingsstoffen. Hier krijgt u de gelegenheid om deze prachtige vogels in hun natuurlijke habitat te observeren en u te vergapen aan het unieke karakter van de fauna en flora van de plaats.
De Salar de Atacama, de grootste zoutvlakte van Chili en een van de grootste ter wereld, zal ons verwelkomen met zijn indrukwekkende zoutlandschappen en weidse horizonten. We zullen genieten van een heerlijk ontbijt en lunch in een unieke omgeving, terwijl we de fascinerende zoutformaties verkennen en ons vergapen aan de onmetelijkheid van het landschap.
Aan het einde van onze verkenning keren we terug naar San Pedro de Atacama, waar we u afzetten bij de gemeentelijke parkeerplaats, zodat u het charmante stadje kunt blijven verkennen of op eigen gelegenheid naar uw hotel kunt terugkeren. Als u wilt, kan onze privéservice u rechtstreeks naar uw hotel brengen.

De pick-up transfer is alleen van geselecteerde centraal gelegen hotels. Als uw hotel buiten het geografische gebied ligt, bevestigen wij u het dichtstbijzijnde ontmoetingspunt. Vermeld de naam en het adres van uw hotel. Drop Off zal zijn in het centrum gemeentelijke parking.

I want to preface this by saying I have never travelled in Chile so I wasn’t sure what to expect. The guide didn’t seem to spread her attention around the group. Focussing on only a few. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. The included meals were ‘ok’ and not very well organized in their set up.

The colours and grandeur of the landscape were unparalleled but this you can see on any tour- what was unique was how the guides (Francesca and Lucas) went above and beyond to translate everything into English for us. They timed everything perfectly along the way and made sure to give us information before or after the main group on the side so it didn't interrupt the flow. Breakfast set up and take down was also accompanied by information so we were always interested and food was great (set up a table of pre-prepared items parked up with spectacular desert views/ the Tropic of Capricorn). It was much more informative than tours we have recently been on (in Peru) so I may have to rethink how I rank other tours :)
It was a very long day. However, our guide Jay was absolutely amazing. She took a lot of time to explain things to the group in multiple languages. Her knowledge of the animals, plant's, and terrain; is very extensive. I would 100% recommend Jay as a guide.

My experience in the Atacama Desert was breathtaking. The arid landscape, with its vibrant colors and the turquoise waters of Laguna Caliente, created a surreal setting. It was an unforgettable journey, surrounded by the raw natural beauty of the desert.
An absolutely beautiful day out. The lagoons are stunning and the colours and geology at Piedras Rochas is amazing. Definitely worth a trip. Look out for wildlife and bird life along the way as well as amazing plants (we visited in spring which made it more spectacular). Each of the sites is community run and restricts visitor numbers to preserve the places. You need to buy a ticket beforehand (the website isn't the easiest to use) and then check in at various range stations. The rangers are really helpful and the sites are beautifully taken care of - the toilets are amazing, something other tourist destinations in other countries could certainly learn from!! The peace, tranquillity and amazing colours make these sites a delight.
