Het is slechts 1 uur en 45 minuten rijden van Melbourne rechtstreeks naar Phillip Island. Bij aankomst wordt u begroet door Phillip Island Nature Parks Ranger voor een begeleide wandeling door het Koala Reserve van Phillip Island. U krijgt een presentatie over Koala's, de geschiedenis en de relevantie van het reservaat en het laatste stuk natuurlijk bos op het eiland. Gids om de groep te begeleiden en Ranger te helpen met de groep.
Vanaf het Koala Wildlife Park is het een korte rit naar Phillip Island, een 10.000 hectare groot gebied waar meer dan honderd soorten diersoorten leven. Phillip Island heeft een bevolking van ongeveer 15.000 inwoners, die tijdens de drukke toeristische seizoenen een boost krijgt. Er zijn drie belangrijke nederzettingen: Cape Woolamai, New Haven en Cowes.

Over het algemeen maken we tijd vrij om door het kustplaatsje Cowes te dwalen. Deze township, beschut langs de rustige Westernport Bay, is vernoemd naar Cowes op het Isle of White. Prachtig kustlandschap, unieke winkels om in te kijken en veel leuke restaurants om eten te kopen.
Vervolgens komen we aan bij de Nobbies Rocks, waar we je meenemen op een optionele begeleide wandeling over de promenades om de rotsachtige kust te zien en pinguïns te spotten die in hun holen nestelen. Daarna reizen we langs de weggetjes van Phillip Island door Phillip Island Penguin Habitat. Geniet van een fantastisch uitzicht op de kliffen aan de kust op weg naar de Phillip Island Penguin Parade.
De belangrijkste attractie van de Phillip Island-tour zijn altijd de Little Penguins geweest die hun dagelijkse ritueel van de pinguïnparade uitvoerden. Deze kleine vriendjes zijn de kleinste in zijn soort ter wereld. Geniet van de zonsondergang bij het bezoekersinformatiecentrum en kies de juiste stoel voor een prachtig uitzicht op de belangrijkste spektakels van de dag: de Penguin Parade!

Joel was fantastic! Great tour and tour guide. We saw koalas at the reserve and we loved the penguin parade! The penguin parade was worth the ticket alone. There were 3 opportunities to buy food and use the restrooms. Joel is very knowledgeable and very friendly.
Fiona is a great guide, she explained really well about the trip and also gave us a lot of useful tips to make our trip an amazing experience… The whole tour, seeing the koalas, the short stop for photos at the noobies, and especially the main attraction seeing the penguins parade was absolutely amazing!

Really cool experience! Lauren was the absolute best!! She had the best personality, made sure we had plenty of rest stops, gave us exact detail and instruction as to the time we had for each location and best spotting for the penguins! Lauren wasd 10/10 all around! The experience itself, I recommend doing a tour that just brings you to Philip island for the penguins. We stopped at lunch first, went to koalas and then hit the penguins (left 12am ish) and we saw the penguins from 6-8ish. It was quite a long day. Understandably it is a 2 hour drive but i feel leaving almost 2-3 hours later would make the day feel less long. OVerall though, no regrets it was a wonderful experience, comfy bus with wifi and great tour guide!

Comfortable, punctual, and very interesting to see the koalas in their protected habitat, and the penguin parade is unique. Everything is well organized. Today I had the privilege of seeing the penguins for my second time in 2years. This time I chose to go with Autopia Tours and I'm glad I did. Our driver who unfortunately I cannot remember his name, was totally amazing. His knowledge that he shared was awesome and I feel like I know a lot more about Phillip island and it's history, the animals and especially the penguins. I can definitely recommend Autopia Tours in Melbourne for tours. (I went on the Penguins parade tour on the Friday 29th May 2026. If can find his name from that Autopia Tours, he needs a huge thankyou from me)
