Deze tour voert je door Pest, het drukke en levendige centrum van Boedapest aan de oostoever van de rivier de Donau. In de tweede helft van de 19e eeuw wordt Boedapest het weelderige politieke, financiële en religieuze centrum van de pasgeboren Hongaarse natie.

Deze sierlijke synagoge is de op één na grootste ter wereld en getuigt van de vitaliteit van de Joodse gemeenschap in Boedapest in de 19e eeuw.
Het monumentale parlement op het Kossuth-plein, het duurste bouwwerk ooit gebouwd in Hongarije bij de inhuldiging, is het symbool van de opkomst van Boedapest in de 19e eeuw.
Deze vereerde neoklassieke kerk, gebouwd tussen 1851 en 1905, biedt plaats aan 8500 mensen en bevat de meest gerespecteerde katholieke relikwie van Hongarije: de gemummificeerde rechterhand van de beschermheilige van de kerk, koning St. Stephen.
Dit iconische beeldencomplex toont de zeven hoofdmannen van de Magyaren en andere belangrijke Hongaarse nationale leiders.

Our guide took the time to really explain Budapest without rushing us and made good use of her ipad to show images from history that contrast the city today. The tour was very worthwhile.
