Dit is een privétour, wat betekent dat het alleen u of uw groep is. In tegenstelling tot een tour met een vaste reisroute kunt u met deze tour de attracties van uw keuze bezoeken. De tour start vanaf het opstappunt. Voor een bezoek van 4 uur kunt u 2 - 3 attracties op Penang Island selecteren (reistijd is niet inbegrepen in de duur). Kies bijvoorbeeld uit : 1. Kek Lok Si 2. Clansteiger 3. Straatkunst muurschilderingen Penang Hill 4 5. Pinang Peranakan Herenhuis 6. Khoo Kongsi U bepaalt zelf welke plaatsen u bezoekt en hoeveel tijd u aan elk van deze plaatsen besteedt. Tijdens het Britse koloniale tijdperk bloeide de Chinese gemeenschap in Penang op, praktiseerde hun geloof met toewijding en bouwde vele grote tempels – sommigen zeiden dat ze die in China konden evenaren, zo niet overtreffen. Een van de meest bekende is Kek Lok Si, vaak beschreven als het grootste boeddhistische tempelcomplex in Zuidoost-Azië, dat lijkt op een spiritueel themapark. Gebouwd in 1985, kunnen bezoekers leren over boeddhisme, taoïsme en confucianisme terwijl ze de prachtig vervaardigde pagodes, levendige lantaarns, ingewikkelde beelden en rustige tuinen verkennen. Mis het adembenemende uitzicht over George Town niet vanaf het tempelterrein. Zoals de lokale bevolking zegt: “Je bent niet in Penang geweest tenzij je Penang Hill en Kek Lok Si hebt bezocht.”
Penang Hill, is een populaire toeristische bestemming die bekend staat om zijn koele klimaat, panoramische uitzichten en rijke biodiversiteit. Het stijgt 833 meter boven de zeespiegel en biedt een verfrissende ontsnapping aan de tropische hitte beneden. De heuvel is bereikbaar via de historische kabelspoorweg en beschikt over attracties zoals The Habitat, gebouwen uit het koloniale tijdperk, tempels en uitkijkdekken met uitzicht op George Town en de Straat van Malakka. Het weelderige regenwoud herbergt diverse flora en fauna, waardoor het ideaal is voor natuurliefhebbers. Penang Hill speelt ook een rol in de inspanningen voor natuurbehoud en promoot ecotoerisme door middel van duurzame praktijken en educatieve programma's.
Penang's Harmony Street, officieel bekend als Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling, is een voorbeeld van Maleisië's multiculturele harmonie. Rijd door deze ene straat om vier belangrijke religieuze bezienswaardigheden naast elkaar te zien staan : beginnen met de Sint-Joriskerk (christendom), vervolgens de Godin van Barmhartigheid tempel (taoïsme), gevolgd door de Sri Mahamariamman tempel (Hindoeïsme) en vervolgens de Kapitan Keling Moskee (islam). Deze nabijheid van diverse plaatsen van aanbidding symboliseert Penangs langdurige religieuze tolerantie en culturele co-existentie.
De Litouwse kunstenaar Ernest Zacharevic laat zijn sporen na met prachtige muurschilderingen van kinderen in het historische Georgetown. De kunstwerken zijn grappig, fascinerend en staan open voor ieders interpretaties. Rijd rond Old George Town om een foto of twee van magische straatkunsten gemaakt door Ernest te zien en te maken, zoals “Kinderen op de fiets”, “Jongen op de motorfiets”, “Dinosaurus” en “Klimmuur” of werk van andere kunstenaars zoals “Reaching Out”, “Kinderen op schommel” en Kinderen en basketbal”.
Drukke, schilderachtige bestemming met een traditioneel dorp van rustieke huizen op palen boven het water. Wandel over de planken loopbrug om te zien hoe de lokale bevolking hun dagelijks leven op de steiger doet, maak mooie foto's van het uitzicht op de haven, de iconische Penang Ferry en de Penang Bridge en koop een snuisterij of twee of slurp aan een koel ijsdrankje in deze warme en charmante enclave.

We throughly enjoyed our half day tour with Jeff this week. We already had sent him a message ahead with some ideas of what we wanted to see and what we had already done independently. He pulled together a varied and well-paced itinerary which took exactly 4 hours from the pick up. There was a god mix of driving to locations and then walking around a variety of sights - which we appreciated in the hot late morning su. Our itinerary included a number of temples, mosques, the waterfront and the UNESCO heritage centre. Jeff was able to answer all our questions and even found us an excellent cafe for a quick coffee stop near Lim jetty. We thought this was well-priced and best suits independent travellers who have done some initial research and have an idea what they would like to do. Note this is a private guided tour - you will not be sharing the experience with other travellers (a bonus!)

Our family of four had a wonderful experience on the Penang: Flexible Half-Day Escapes tour. A huge compliment to our guide and driver, Mr. Law Hock Chye, who was incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and very accommodating — especially since we were travelling with two seniors and a small baby. He tailored the itinerary perfectly to suit our group’s needs. We especially enjoyed our visit to the Pinang Peranakan Mansion, and even though it was raining, the comfortable car tour around George Town allowed us to learn so much about Penang’s rich history. We also appreciated the stop at The Guan Yin Temple, where we could pay our respects and make wishes for family blessings. Communication via WhatsApp before the tour was excellent, and Mr. Law even walked us back to the embarkation point for our return to the ship — such thoughtful service! Overall, 5-star service from both the tour guide and the company. We will definitely book again when we return to Penang for a longer stay!

Our tour guide Lester was caring, enthusiastic & knowledgeable. He brought us to Penang Hill where our 3 & 1/2 year old son thoroughly enjoyed the furnicular ride up & down the hill. The views from the top were breathtaking! Along the way in our private car, Lester shared quite a few inside stories about Penang’s history with us.
