Tijdens deze tour bezoekt u het UNESCO-werelderfgoed Lunenburg en 's werelds populairste vuurtoren in Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia. Lunenburg wordt beschouwd als het best bekende voorbeeld van een nederzetting uit het Britse koloniale tijdperk, met veel gebouwen en huizen die dateren uit de 18e en 19e eeuw. Peggy's Cove is een charmante vissersgemeenschap aan zee in de regio St. Margaret's Bay buiten Halifax. De vuurtoren is misschien wel een van de meest gefotografeerde locaties in Canada.

De tour begint in het centrum van Halifax met een rit van (ongeveer) 1,5 uur naar het UNESCO-werelderfgoed Lunenburg, dat wordt beschouwd als het bekendste voorbeeld van een nederzetting uit het Britse koloniale tijdperk in Noord-Amerika. Lunenburg, gesticht in 1753, is de op een na oudste Britse kolonie in Canada en de thuisbasis van het wereldberoemde tallship Bluenose II. Als je door de straten van Lunenburg wandelt, ga je terug naar een lang geleden tijdperk, toen de meeste inwoners hun brood verdienden met de overvloed van de zee en de thuisbasis waren van enkele van de beste zeevruchten in Canada. Ontdek zelf waarom dit kleine charmante stadje een van de meest innemende in zijn soort is. Je hebt 2:30 uur. Nadat je Lunenburg hebt verlaten, ben je op weg naar Peggy's Cove, de thuisbasis van een van de beroemdste vuurtorens ter wereld en de meest iconische bezienswaardigheden van Nova Scotia. De schilderachtige rit naar Peggy's Cove duurt 1:30 uur. (bij benadering). Het ruige en betoverende landschap is ontzagwekkend voor degenen die nog nooit de kracht van de zee hebben gezien, terwijl golven langs de kustlijn slaan. Je hebt 1 uur de tijd. (bij benadering) om het vissersdorpje van de baai te verkennen, rond te snuffelen in de kleine, schilderachtige winkeltjes in de omgeving en geweldige foto's te maken die je nog jaren zult koesteren. De tour eindigt met je stop in Peggy's Cove en je keert 1 uur terug naar Halifax. (bij benadering) later.

Excellent clear information in pick up and return. Trustworthy. I felt safe that I would be returning on time for my ship. The locations are gorgeous and well worthwhile visiting rather than the city of Halifax- which is probably lovely, but I wanted small cute and charming. Lunenburg and Peggy cove hit the spot. The tour guide was very personable and helpful. I enjoyed the seeing two locations outside of Halifax.
We had a great trip to Lunenburg and Peggy’s Cove. Our driver and guide, Nilah from Anchor Tours was wonderful. She gave us lots of information about Halifax as well as the places on the tour. The trip was nicely paced with plenty of time to explore and have lunch. Nilah even persuaded the sun to come out after a foggy morning. Would highly recommend.

My daughter and I booked this full day excursion a few months earlier for our birthday week celebration in Halifax. Our driver and tour guide, Robert, was one of the best I've had. He was knowledgeable about the area, he had great stories and advice and engaged with everyone. The van was comfortable and we appreciated the door to door service from our hotel. Unfortunately, it poured that day and in fact much of the week. We were hoping that either the excursion would be cancelled or rescheduled to another day. The weather forecast was showing that it would rain a lot, not just a light drizzle or on and off. So, I'm very disappointed with the tour operator, Anchor, for not giving us the opportunity to do so. I've been to Peggy's Cove and Lunenburg before, but my daughter didn't get much of an experience because everyone ran out to take photos and then right back into the van, with no opportunity to get out and savour the sights or to have nice photos to enjoy. That's why my rating is 3 out of 5 for the excursion itself, but 5 out of 5 for Robert.

As such, we advertise all of our tours as a "rain or shine" event. That's clearly stated on our product listing on Viator and on our own website. We do cancel tours when severe weather is expected that may jeopardize the safety of our guests and guides. This wasn't the situation here - not even remotely close. We would have accommodated your request to switch your reservation, however, we didn't have this tour scheduled for the day you specifically requested. This was explained to you in writing. Fantastic outing and a great tour guide
5/5 the pick up and drop off from the hotel was fantastic. Our guide Robert, was very knowledgeable about the places that we went to. He was very engaging and fun with the group as well. The time we spent in each location was adequate for sightseeing and picture taking without feeling like it was dragging on. Overall, I do suggest booking this as a day plan when you’re in Nova Scotia. I now know the right way to order a perfect lobster dinner wherever I am for the rest of my life!
The guide talked too much. Non stop for 4 and a half hours. While in the van. He shared things that gave me a negative feeling about Canada. Maybe if you are Canadian, it would be more acceptable, but visiting from another country, it was too much.
