We highly recommend this cooking experience! Our hostess was absolutely wonderful. She walked us through how to make tiramisu and pasta. We enjoyed the wine that was offered and the conversation was excellent. We learned a lot about Italian cooking.
Silvia was wonderfully patient and so very kind. She gave us many tips about how to create an Italian dish. Silvia welcomed us into her beautiful home and treated us like royalty. I would definitely schedule another cooking class with her and I highly recommend this on your next visit to Lucca.
Hello all! I was away on business and feeling a little homesick. This experience hosted by this wonderful local family in their family residence from the 1600’s is worth making a trip for. The incredible home-cooked meal highlights the true meaning of family. I encourage you to take the risk and rep the reward all at an incredible value, and connect with wonderful human therapy. Enjoy your custom dinner. -Dino Georgetown, DC
Save your money and book with a real cooking company directly. We spent $420 for 2 people. I highly do not recommend. The hosts were not who was displayed on Viator. They were nice girls but for the same price or less you can book with a legit company or chef. We “cooked” for 45 min for a 3 hour booking. One item is tiramisu. You make it first by mixing some eggs in a bowl. The allotted time does not allow for tiramisu to chill, so when we ate it at the end it was soupy. It just wasn’t good at all. We ate it to not seem rude. So sorry to say because the girls were so nice but it wasn’t good. Then you make the pasta for about 15 min. Then they take it and make the pasta and some sauces while you drink wine. The sauces were olive oil, spices, and Parmesan for one. The other was a tomato sauce that had little flavor. You don’t cook the sauce, they make it while you sip wine. Sorry but just don’t book it unless you want to throw out some $. Literally you can eat a Michelin star restaurant for this price…. We felt like we got ripped off for the price. Especially considering they told us that if we “booked with them” we would have paid 50% less.
Dear Elizabeth, Thank you for sharing your honest feedback. We’re truly sorry that the experience didn’t meet your expectations and that you left feeling disappointed. Our classes are meant to be hands-on but also relaxed and social, with time split between cooking together and enjoying the food, wine, and atmosphere. We understand that this may not have been what you were expecting, and we’re sorry. We do truly appreciate your kind words about the girls hosting the class — they care a lot about what they do. Your comments are important to us, and we’ll take them to heart as we keep working to improve and to be clearer about what guests can expect! Thank you again for taking the time to write, Cesarine Team
Sylvia, our host and teaching chef, was fantastic. Taught us how to make gnocchi, gnudi (ravioli without pasta)and tiramisu. Everything was delicious and I just hope we can recreate it when we get home. Sylvia is warm and welcoming and I would highly recommend her when you visit Lucca.
We didn’t make Tiramisu but we had the opportunity to learn about olive oil made in Italy and so tasting. We enjoyed some with lovely appetizers. We had some great wines and made pasta with two kinds of sauces. Our hosts were fantastic made us feel at home we enjoyed our experience celebrating very much as a family and meeting them.
This was a great experience! Ginevra and Ilaria were amazing hosts. They made it fun while also sharing their extensive knowledge of olive oil and pasta making. I would recommend this for anyone visiting Lucca!
We enjoyed learning about all the cooking tips, and learning how to make pasta from scratch! It was great to learn all the tips around sauces, patience, patience!
Ginevra and the team were great. The cooking experience was better than expected but, the viator interface and customer service was terrible. Our friends were directed into a different class and tried to redirect into the same class with us and despite customer service intervention were directed into another wrong group and now viator is trying to double charge our friends. Don’t make a mistake on your booking.
We loved every second with Silvia. She is a warm, inviting hostess who made all of us feel welcome in her beautiful home. We were a big group—5 adults, 2 kids and a baby. She was wonderful with the our two older boys and helped us keep the baby entertained too. It was truly a small miracle to see my two older sons eat and enjoy spinach. Not only was it delicious but it was also made by their own hands. Both of them said Silvia and her cooking class was in their top experiences of Italy.
