Our family of four (kids 12 and 13) really enjoyed our day with Paulo. We started at a lovely grocery store and learned about fish and cheese before taking the metro to le foodist. The cooking was educational - we all helped contribute and could ask questions. There were opportunities for drinks and eating throughout. We were ready to sit come lunch time! The meal was very enjoyable. It was a full day well spent.

Great time an atmosphere. Paulo was very informative and taught with patience, creating a fun no pressure cooking environment. The food was all delicious (even though I was unsure I would enjoy the ratatouille). Great time!
Where do I start … Paulo was amazing he know the history and culture of food which is so important in France. My husband and I loved the way he taught us from the food at the market and the quality to each step. He was patient and fun. We seriously had fun and will be back! Everything was so well organized and clean. We made a fish dish and it was absolutely amazing! God bless yall!

If you want a truly engaging and authentic cooking class in Paris, you must visit Le Foodist. Chef Paulo was incredible! He managed to direct us effortlessly both as a group and individually. The atmosphere in the kitchen was perfectly relaxed and engaging. I loved the hands-on learning structure. Chef Paulo taught us that the secret to a rich ratatouille is maximizing the flavor of each vegetable individually first. We baked the eggplant and roasted the red bell peppers before simmering them all together at the end with a fragrant bouquet garni. It completely changed how I think about cooking! Our progressive menu was a dream:• Welcome: Creamy Brillat-Savarin cheese and fresh, crusty French bread.• Starter: Our beautifully layered, flavorful eggplant ratatouille.• Main Course: Remarkably moist baked salmon with a rich, velvety beurre blanc sauce.• Dessert: Fresh poached red peaches served with heavenly homemade vanilla ice cream. The best parts of the day were the pacing and the delicious food! We prepared, cooked, and ate each dish one course at a time. Chef Paulo even sat down and enjoyed the meal with us, which made the day feel like a dinner party with friends. Every single bite melted in our mouths. I cannot recommend Le Foodist enough!
Bonjour Alexandra, thank you for your genuine and incredible review of your Cooking Class in Paris at Le Foodist with your Chef Paulo. I am so happy that your Ratatouille appetizer changed the way you think about cooking. And indeed what you outlined sounds like a wonderful menu - from Brillat Savarin to heavenly homemade (during the class) ice cream. Finally the way the experience feels, with the involvement of your Chef, all the way to sharing the meal, is very much the way we relate to food in France: eating is about sharing - food and time. Thank you so much for all your comments and recommendation! Cheers Fred
Wow! So much fun! Great chef (teacher), wonderful food - we learned a lot and shared the experience with new friends!
This was a wonderful experience! We were a group of four, joining some other pairs and singles to make up a complete group of 10. Because the Mayne markets in Paris are diminished by the middle of August, we started at the Grand Epicere. Our chef Fredéric brought us croissants to start as we learned the different dishes we would be cooking. He was wonderful in explaining all of the different components of the dishes that we would be cooking. After we picked up bread, vegetables, fruit, fruits, and cheeses, Frederick provided us with a subway card to travel to the kitchens. In the kitchen, each of us had different tasks chopping slicing cleaning cutting whisking to prepare our meals. Our appetizer was a mushroom in a wine, butter and heavy cream sauce with herbs and garlic. Mmmmmmm. Our Mayne was baked salmon with a ratatouille that had eggplant zucchini, roasted red peppers, onions, garlic. Our dessert was poached pears with vanilla ice cream and a red raspberry Coolis. Our chef had a wonderful sense of humor, was engaging, and make sure we all understood the techniques needed to replicate our experience at home in the future. There was lots of wine, served with our cheese course in the middle of cooking, and some more wine with our entrée and our main plate. We began around 9:15 in the morning and ended just before 3 o’clock in the afternoon. This was an incredible experience! I would do this again the next time I’m in Paris!!!
Our cooking experience with Luke at La Foodist was one of the highlights of our time in Paris. Because the local market was unexpectedly closed, Luke quickly adapted and met us at a high-end grocery store instead. It turned out to be a wonderful alternative. He guided us through the store with incredible knowledge, explaining not only the ingredients we would be using for our meal but also introducing us to many other French foods and products. The selection of fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, and breads was outstanding, and we learned so much just from shopping with him. Afterward, we returned to the kitchen, where Luke patiently taught us how to properly prepare and cook each dish. He was kind, personable, and an excellent teacher, making everyone feel comfortable regardless of their cooking experience. Throughout the class, he took the time to get to know each of us, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The meal we prepared was absolutely exceptional. We began with a silky cauliflower and leek soup, followed by roasted chicken served with a rich mushroom, shallot, and wine reduction, seasonal vegetables, and creamy mashed potatoes. For dessert, we made an incredible homemade custard ice cream topped with poached peaches and raspberry compote. Every course was delicious, and it was especially rewarding to enjoy a meal we had created together under Luke’s guidance. While the fresh ingredients and wonderful menu certainly made for an outstanding meal, the most important ingredient in making this such a memorable and delicious experience was our chef, Luke. His warmth, patience, enthusiasm, and passion for French cuisine transformed a cooking class into an unforgettable experience. We left with new cooking skills, a greater appreciation for French ingredients, and wonderful memories. Thank you, Luke, for making our day in Paris so special. We would highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Paris who wants an authentic, hands-on taste of French cuisine.
