Het Paracas National Reserve bestaat uit het Paracas schiereiland, de kustgebieden en tropische woestijn. Het is een toevluchtsoord voor 74 soorten planten die groeien in dit zeer droge gebied en 216 soorten vogels, 16 soorten zoogdieren, 10 soorten reptielen en 193 vissoorten. Het beschermde natuurlijke zeegebied beslaat 3350 vierkante kilometer, 65% daarvan is zee en 35% land en eilanden. Het wordt beschouwd als een van de rijkste en meest ongebruikelijke ecosystemen ter wereld, maar in alle eerlijkheid zijn niet alleen de wilde dieren een bezienswaardigheid, maar ook de schoonheid van de oceaan en woestijnlandschappen.

Je wordt opgehaald bij je hotel in Paracas, waar je aan boord gaat voor een privétour naar Paracas National Reserve. Tijdens de reis naar Paracas National Reserve, krijgt u de gelegenheid om meer te leren over deze prachtige plek door een bezoek te brengen aan het interpretatiecentrum, een interessant gebouw dat foto's, alle fauna, flora en vele andere belangrijke feiten over het schiereiland Paracas toont. Daarna rijden we door een levenloze woestijn totdat we een gebied bereiken waar eens een grote natuurlijke rotsformatie stond, bekend als de kathedraal. Helaas was deze oude formatie niet bestand tegen de aardbeving in 2007. Op deze plek heb je een prachtig uitzicht op de woestijn en de blauwe oceaan. Rijden langs de kust van de oceaan langs het strand van Yumaque. Na een tijdje kom je aan in het kleine vissersdorpje Lagunillas, waar je de kans krijgt om van geweldig Peruaans eten te genieten in elk lokaal restaurant. Uiteindelijk keert u terug naar uw hotel. Einde van de service.

The Paracas National Reserve was absolutely stunning and should not be missed as part of a trip to Peru. Our guide, William, provided insights into the pre Incan cultures and ensured that we were able to see all the amazing sites at our own pace. I don’t think we would have had such a good experience going there on our own. It was an unexpected high point of our vacation.
This was brilliant. We did a boat tour to the islands to see Seals, Penguins and birds. Then had an hour break before going on a buggy tour through the national park visiting multiple beaches and driving the buggy through the desert. Completely safe, follow a private guide and see many incredible sights. Worth doing!
We benefited from a well organized and well informed excursion. The Paracas National Reserve is stark and dramatic with awesome sights. The team led by Jose did everything possible to ensure that saw and understood the key elements and they were diligent in keeping us safe at all times.

The tour involved 4 stops in the Reserve. The commentary was minimal. However, we enjoyed the information that was shared as well as the stunning views. The tour was very laid back and relaxed. We did feel it was overpriced given the tour was basically transportation to and from the Reserve.
This was a fun day! Logistics were seamless and everything occurred as described. The reserve itself was stunning! This was a new landscape and environment for us to discover and we loved it. Our guide, Brian, looked after us, gave good commentary on what we were seeing, and allowed for plenty of photo ops. The beach walk and high tide line discoveries were fun. We saw flamingos, oystercatchers, black vultures, pelicans, and lizards, amongst other unidentifiable (to us) critters. Recommended for a short, non-water based, activity.
Our tour guide, Olenka was amazing. She has a love and passion for the land and told us wonderful stories about its history and her culture as we traveled the landmarks.
