Geruïneerd 15e-eeuws torenhuis op het terrein van Hopetoun House werd gebruikt voor de externe opnamen voor het ouderlijk huis van Jamie Fraser, Lallybroch.
Dit "schip dat nooit heeft gevaren", dat uitsteekt in de Firth of Forth, is een 15e-eeuws fort dat wordt gebruikt als hoofdkwartier van Black Jack Randalls in Fort William.
Oorspronkelijk was de thuisbasis van The Duke of Albany en de Earls of Moray nu een van, zoniet de beroemdste filmlocaties in Schotland. Gebruikt voor bijna alle kasteeltaferelen in Monty Pythons "Holy Grail" en Elizabeth Taylors "Ivanhoe" is het nu beter bekend als de originele setting voor Winterfell Castle in Game of Thrones en Castle Leoch, het clanhuis van de Mackenzie's in Outlander .
Aangezien dit historische levende museum wordt gebruikt als de fictieve stad Crainsmuir, kunt u door de kruidentuin van Clare dwalen en rond het mercat-kruis van de steden.
Het dorp Falkland vult mooi in als 1940's Inverness, dus houd de geest van Jamie in de gaten ..... Falklandpaleis en tuinen waren de favoriete verblijfplaatsen van de Royal Stewart-familie, met name een jonge Mary Queen of Scots die op het terrein rondzwierf en een van de oudste tennisbanen van Britains was.

Sean was wonderful!! He was so patient, knowledgeable, and fun! He took us to additional places not listed just so we could see everything we wanted! This was our favorite thing we did in Scotland!

This was a very enjoyable day away from Edinburgh to see some of the Outlander film locations. Tam was a great tour guide and went above and beyond to make the day a wonderful experience. Particularly loved the visit to Falkland at the end of the day. Thanks Tam!

Beryl picked us up on time at the agreed meeting point in a comfortable Mercedes. Then we got coffee together and our journey could begin. Our journey was accompanied by Beryl's stories and information about Edinburgh and Scotland. Very informative and, because there were only two of us travelling, also detailed. Our first stop was: Midhope Castle or Lallybroch. Because we had started early, we were lucky and had Lallybroch almost to ourselves. Of course we had to take pictures of everything and Beryl was happy to help us with that too. The second stop was at Blackness Castle or, for Outlander fans, Fort William. A great "film set" on the Firth of Forth. The journey continued from Linlithgow via Falkirk, past the famous Kelpies, to Doune. As the name of the place says, so is the castle, Doune Castle, or Leoch Castle, the seat of the MacKenzie clan. The journey then took us, hungry, to "The Woodside" in Doune, which Beryl had chosen for us and which she highly recommends. Well fortified, Beryl led us through the Glendevon Valley, a beautiful Scottish landscape. The next highlight was Falkland, or: Inverness in Outlander. A typical Scottish town where "Mrs. Baird's B&B can be found". After a short drive, we reached Dysart Harbour, which served as the backdrop for Le Havre. A short walk along the harbour and we unfortunately had to make our way back. Beryl's family was waiting for her and the way back to Edinburgh, at the end of the working day, was waiting for all of us. With a coffee stop on the way, we reached the Scottish capital safely and soundly. My conclusion: a great day, packed with Outlander, which Beryl organized and carried out brilliantly. I can highly recommend her and TRIPorganiser Scotland.

Der zweite Halt beim Blackness Castle oder Fort William war sicherlich ein toller Ort für Outlanderfans und bot eine beeindruckende Filmkulisse am Firth of Forth. Unsere Weiterfahrt führte uns über Linlithgow und Falkirk, vorbei an den berühmten Kelpies, nach Doune, wo wir das Doune Castle oder die Burg Leoch besuchten. Es freut mich zu hören, dass euch das von mir ausgewählte Restaurant "The Woodside" in Doune gefallen hat. Die Fahrt durch das Glendevon Tal bot sicherlich eine atemberaubende schottische Landschaft, und Falkland als das Inverness in Outlander war sicherlich ein weiteres Highlight. Der Besuch des Dysart Harbour als Kulisse für Le Havre rundete den Tag ab, bevor wir leider den Rückweg antreten mussten. Ich kann Ihnen versichern, dass eure Zufriedenheit und Sicherheit für mich immer oberste Priorität haben. Sean was a great guide and my wife and I loved seeing where Outlander was filmed. One of the sites (Midhope) is closed on Tues and Weds so keep that in mind if you are booking on those days.
