We nodigen je uit om met ons mee te gaan op een reis terug in de tijd door Ancient Rio en Santa Teresa! Laten we het historische centrum van Rio bezoeken en naar de Mosteiro de São Bento gaan, door de Praça XV, Arcos dos Teles, Cinelandia lopen (en van de gelegenheid gebruik maken om de bakkerij van Colombo te bezoeken) en de Arcos da Lapa. We bezoeken ook de landelijke wijk Santa Teresa met de prachtige huizen uit het begin van de 20e eeuw. Santa Teresa staat bekend om zijn traditionele tram uit 1897 en omdat het het nest is van verschillende schilders die hun huizen openen zodat u hun werk kunt controleren.

Het Parque das Ruínas was vroeger de thuisbasis van een vooraanstaande vrouwelijke kunstliefhebber, Laurinda Santos Lobo, en is nu een cultureel centrum dat haar erfenis van het ondersteunen van kunstenaars overal behoudt.
Vroeger vervoerde het water, maar nu is het een populair vervoermiddel voor inwoners van Santa Teresa.
Het plein is gelegen in het historische centrum van Rio de Janeiro en wordt omringd door het Palácio Tiradentes, de Wetgevende Vergadering van Rio de Janeiro; en de Paço Imperial. Het Praça XV Station is een veerbootterminal die een aantal bestemmingen in de stad Rio de Janeiro en Niteroi bedient

Ontworpen in 1908 door architect Adolfo Morales de los Rios om de National School of Fine Arts, erfgenaam van de Imperial Academy of Fine Arts, te huisvesten, werd dit gebouw gebouwd tijdens de stedelijke modernisering uitgevoerd door burgemeester Pereira Passos in de toenmalige federale hoofdstad. De Theatro Municipal, ingehuldigd in 1909, is een van de belangrijkste theaters van Brazilië en Latijns-Amerika. Theatro Municipal heeft internationale artiesten en belangrijke namen uit de Braziliaanse cultuur getrokken, waaronder dansers, muzikanten, operazangers en uitvoerende artiesten. Sinds de jaren dertig heeft de Theatro Municipal van Rio de Janeiro zijn artistieke onafhankelijkheid behouden en is het de enige Braziliaanse instelling met een eigen koor, een symfonieorkest en een balletgezelschap. We gaan niet naar binnen, maar nemen de tijd om te genieten van de architectonische aspecten van dit gebouw.
De grootste bibliotheek van Latijns-Amerika werd in 1810 opgericht door D. João VI, de koning van Portugal. Het is een imponerend gebouw met een archief van bijna 9 miljoen items in het centrum van Rio met zeldzame boeken, manuscripten, originele brieven geschreven door prinses Isabel, de eerste kranten die in het land zijn gedrukt, en twee exemplaren van de kostbare Mainz Psalterbijbel, gedrukt in 1492. We gaan niet naar binnen, maar we nemen de tijd om te genieten van de architectonische aspecten van dit gebouw.

While the transport and the guide were both marvellous, I don't feel this tour offered particularly good value for money. If you're spending a few days in Rio and have already taken organised tours to Christ the Redeemer and Sugarloaf Mountain, there's a good chance you've also visited places such as the Cathedral and Selarón Steps, as these are often included in those excursions. As a result, there wasn't a great deal of new content for me on this tour. I had hoped we would spend more time exploring the streets of Santa Teresa on foot, taking in its colourful buildings, charming atmosphere, and local character. Instead, a significant portion of the tour was spent travelling in the vehicle. We also didn't visit some of the places I had expected to see, such as Confeitaria Colombo or Parque das Ruínas (although I understand the latter is closed on Tuesdays). While I did enjoy visiting some beautiful churches and the stunning Royal Portuguese Reading Room, I ultimately felt that the overall experience didn't quite justify the price. The guide was excellent and the organisation was smooth throughout, but I was left wishing for a more immersive exploration of Santa Teresa and Rio's historic centre.
Fantastic walk around Santa Teresa - wonderful murals and artisan shops. Fascinating walking around old Rio (visiting the Royal Portuguese Reading Room and Mosteiro de São Bento with views of the Museum of Tomorrow). Monica was so knowledgeable and accommodating. A wonderful half day excursion.
An amazing experience and tour with Monica, who showed us places that are off the usual tourist paths. Through her explanations and secret spots, she was able to show us all aspects of Brazilian art, history, and culture. A big thank you to Monica for her professionalism.
I had an amazing time during my tour. My guide Meilin Mares was excellent and very knowledgeable. She spoke English, Spanish and Portuguese perfectly so she was able to communicate with everyone in the tour effectively. I thought I lost my AirPods but Meilin found them in her car and contacted to verify. She then brought them back to my hotel and left them for me at the front desk. That really meant a lot to me because she went out of her way so I could have my property back. I will recommend this tour to all my friends.
