Oud kasteel van Celje
Beschrijving
Nergens in Slovenië zijn er zoveel kastelen en landhuizen als in het stroomgebied van Savinja. De redenen daarvoor zijn te vinden in verschillende feiten. Allereerst is het belangrijk om te benadrukken dat dit tot 1140 het centrum van Savinja markgraaf was, dat veel eigendommen werden verworven door de Karinthische Krško-bisschoppen en niet in de laatste plaats dat heel wat adellijke families zich in dit gebied vestigden. Onder hen waren de machtigste graven en vorsten van Celje zeker de belangrijkste.

De kastelen zijn een afspiegeling van een tijdperk, maar de mensen in verschillende perioden hebben ze heel anders geaccepteerd en waargenomen, net zoals het leven steeds nieuwe vormen krijgt. Kastelen en landhuizen hebben met hun buitengewone verleden en heden de menselijke verbeeldingskracht altijd geplaagd. Verschillende verhalen verweven zich over de kastelen, vooral over hun bewoners, die later door de mensen werden veranderd en tot op de dag van vandaag aan hun afstammelingen werden verteld. En dankzij al die verhalen en legenden over de kastelen en hun bewoners die werden bijgehouden door de volkstraditie, kunnen we nog steeds (magisch) het verleden herleven van de meestal kasteelruïnes, die nog steeds moedig en trots op de kliffen staan en ons eraan herinneren hun vroegere glorie. Zo kregen veel verhalen en legenden over het oude kasteel Celje, het lagere kasteel, de graven en de prinsen van Celje en mensen uit Teharje te horen. Well preserved medieval castle. Very interesting visit and spectacular views from the viewpoint and the tower. You can see all of Celje and its surroundings. It is worth the visit and the 7 euros it costs to enter.
Beautifully preserved castle on top of a mountain. Very nice views. On some days there are activities in the castle, but this was not during our visit.
It’s a nice option after the hike but you can also go by car, of course. The castle is well maintained and organised. The staff at the reception is kind and attentive. Different places and rooms with great views from the town of Celje. Some information about the history of the village and a nice cafeteria for an espresso.
Beautiful old castle with a lot of history. It used to belong to a powerful house of Grofje Celjski and it shows. It is placed above old city center of Celje which offers scenic views of Celje and its sourroundings. A must visit if you are around!
Was visiting this castle with my Erasmus programme. We had a lovely visit and guide was very good at explaining and answering the questions. However, tour was shorter than I expected.
Visited the Castle on a gorgeous sunny day and it was just wonderful You get a great feeling of medieval times and the walk ways between some of the buildings make you feel like you are on the set of a Game of Thrones episode Fabulous views from the top of the tower and really good information about the castle Nice little cafe at the entrance which is nice at the end, especially if the the weather was hot, like on our visit Well worth the €15 for a family of 4 !
Nice and beautiful castle with a cozy bar with small playground on. Beautiful view of the city. Not a super long visit, but for what you pay there definitely worth stopping.
