Great explanation, great meeting point near the cruise terminal. Great, I would book it again anytime.
Hop on Hop off was very comfortable with a good route, until the end of the day when the bus was very off schedule. We had to leave the bus and pay for a taxi back to the port. First they waited 10 minutes for a passenger to use the restroom and then waited at a stop for a second bus to come to consolidate passengers which ended up putting us behind schedule by 25 minutes. The driver neither spoke or understood English. Would not recommend if coming from a cruise ship.
This was a very poor experience. Wanted to learn something about the sights after two days already walking in Oslo but the AI commentary was terrible (inane, irrelevant, disjointed) made worse by synching errors ie the bus just wasn't in the right place for the commentary. Didn't need to be told three times during the round trip that the tacky souvenir shop at the cruise terminal is the biggest in the country. Avoid this tour!!
There are two providers of hop on hop off in Oslo. Take the other one. There was a running event in Oslo and by order of the police the stepping place next to the Oslo opera building had been moved. The bus company couldn't do anything about that. However, we were sent in the wrong direction by an employee to the Strandgata and there was no boarding place. We walked like the card provided to an earlier boarding point, point 9, but that was a few kilometres walk. I tried to stop a bus twice but even though it was already standing still it wouldn't open the door. This company has poorly indicated where the boarding places are and there is certainly no employee to help you. An employee of the competitor has thought better and has indicated the right direction. So for the sake of brevity, take the hop on hop off in Oslo, but not with this company, you walk more than you drive.
Poor service overall. There were too many customers and not enough buses provided. This led to long waits at each stop. Ticket was purchased at 0949hrs from stop 9 and we got on the bus and left shortly after that. Driver then DID NOT stop at the Fortress which was one of the stops we were very interested in. He simply drove past the stop without stopping. The first stop he stopped at was outside the Opera House. Bus stop 1 was disorganized as despite the stop location being changed the staff did not maintain the order of the line and some customers jumped the line and entered through the middle doors which led to people in the line missing the bus which was unfair. Long wait at bus stop 3 at the Sculpture Park at about 1250hrs. We waited in line for about 20-25 minutes and only one bus showed up which was almost full and we were about 20-30 people back in the line. As we had a cruise ship to get back to and there were limited buses showing up we made the decision to get a taxi at our expense (445 NOK). We did speak to staff on our arrival back at the cruise terminal and were advised to e-mail our concerns. We were informed that the problem was too many people were getting on/off at stop 1 and 3 however in my opinion there were too many tickets sold and not enough buses. All of the buses we took were totally full and it was not a relaxing or enjoyable experience. I was very disappointed with the service and felt that it was slow, disorganized and unreliable. A refund request was placed on the company website on the day of the trip and no communication or refund has been received as of nearly 3 weeks later.
Many overlaps and repetitions of poorly tailored information. Weak informational material from the guide. Volume was very good, but the content was hardly useful.
2 persons we were charged kr1000 instead of kr 902,06 BE CAREFUL. There is a token with kr code. Unfortunately my husband was in a hurry to catch the bus and a guy outside with red jacket written Gray line charged almost kr100 more. Disgusting
The young man and woman at the initial stop were fabulous. Held the bus a few minutes for our companion. History/info re to Oslo/Norway was decent but not as comprehensive as I would have liked. Good overview of city.
The salesman lied about the exchange rate, so the price was much higher than expected. The bus has QR codes with TripAdvisor's logo, but it leads to a fake review site.
The buses run regularly, the equipment is ok. The stops are relatively far apart.
