Ontdek de boeiende allure van Ortygia, het oude stadscentrum van Syracuse, tijdens een exclusieve privéwandeling. Ortygia ligt op een pittoresk eiland zeer dicht bij het vasteland en is een schatkamer van 3000 jaar geschiedenis. Je tour begint bij de Apollo Tempel, de oudste Griekse tempel van Sicilië. Terwijl u door de betoverende smalle straatjes loopt, komt u op Piazza Duomo, waar u de kans krijgt om een katholieke kerk te verkennen die boven een oude tempel is gebouwd en twee culturen combineert (het bezoek aan het interieur is alleen mogelijk als er geen religieuze diensten plaatsvinden in de kerk). Bewonder de legendarische Aretusa-bron, ook beroemd om zijn papyrusplanten. We zullen ook de minder bekende paden van de voormalige Joodse wijk betreden. Je ontmoet onze gids in de buurt van de Apollo-tempel en leert over dit oude Griekse gebouw, de oudste stenen tempel gebouwd door Grieken op Sicilië.
Hier ziet u de prachtige neoklassieke Diana-fontein en de gebouwen in verschillende stijlen, rond het plein.
Een wandeling door de pittoreske Via Cavor, langs de Collegio dei Gesuiti.
Kom meer te weten over het prachtige kathedraalplein van Syracuse en de belangrijkste gebouwen: de kathedraal, het palazzo Vermexio, arcivescovado en het palazzo Beneventano del Bosco.
Bezoek aan het interieur van de kathedraal, een barokke kerk gebouwd op een oude Griekse tempel. Toegangsprijzen niet inbegrepen (€ 2 p.p.). Het bezoek aan het interieur is niet mogelijk tijdens de heilige mis of huwelijken. In dit geval zal de gids de kerk van buitenaf uitleggen.

We participated as a family in a private walking tour of the historic center of Syracuse with Gaetano, a truly knowledgeable and engaging guide. He knew how to combine historical, artistic and cultural information with anecdotes, curiosities and attention to small details, managing to interest even the youngest of our daughters, 9 years old. The two hours of the visit flew by despite the heat, Gaetano always had the thoughtfulness to choose shaded spots for the explanations, accompanying us on a real walk... through space and time. Absolutely recommended!

Excellent private tour. Our guide Eva was super, very friendly, gave interesting local knowledge and facts about the sites and culture of Ortigia. Exactly the right amount of information without overloading us but open to all questions. The interaction we had with Sebastiano at the Hermes office when booking the tour directly with them was also excellent and reassuring. All questions were answered, recommendations given and no pressure to purchase. Received an email from them a couple of days before the tour as a reminder and to introduce our guide for the tour. All round super experience and would definitely use them again without hesitation. Recommend Hermes 100%.
