3 attracties in Seim Reap voor een dagtour 1. Kampong Phluk: bekijk en ervaar de vreemde alledaagse levensstijl van vissers en boeren die op het wedland van het grote Tole Sap-meer wonen. 2. Wat Thmey moordveld: luister naar je gids wat hem en zijn familie is overkomen tijdens de genocideperiode in Cambodja van 1975-1979 3. Oorlogsmuseum: leer de geschiedenis van Cambodja van 1965 tot 1998 en zie hoe de wapens door Vietnamese soldaten in Cambodja werden gebracht.

We beginnen deze tour door 25 kilometer ten zuidoosten van Siem Reap naar Kampong Phluk te rijden. Hoewel bekend als een drijvend dorp, is het niet strikt. De huizen hier zweven niet, maar zitten op hoge palen. Er wonen ongeveer 700 gezinnen en zij zijn 100% etnische Khmer. Ze verdienen hun geld door te vissen en de lokale omgeving te bewerken. Onderweg stoppen we bij een prachtig lokaal dorp om de rijstvelden met koeien en buffels te zien. De meeste huizen in Kampong Phluk zijn op het land, gebouwd op 8m-palen om hen te beschermen tegen overstromingen in het regenseizoen wanneer het water stijgt. Ze zijn gemaakt van een speciaal soort hout dat duurzaam is in zowel droog als nat weer. De belangrijkste huizen zijn gemaakt van hout, palmbladeren en met een tinnen dak. Je ziet ook drijvende viskwekerijen, een krokodillenboerderij, huiswinkels en mobiele bootwinkels. Er is ook een overstroomd bosgebied om te bezoeken.
We gaan dan terug naar de stad Siem Reap en gaan naar de Wat Thmey-pagode. Hier is de site van de Siem Reap Killing-velden. Je kunt meer te weten komen over het meedogenloze regime van de Rode Khmer onder leiding van de beruchte Pol Pot. Onze gids zal de geschiedenis van hemzelf, zijn familie en vrienden delen tijdens de genocide.
We zullen ook Siem Reap City bezoeken om het oorlogsmuseum te bezoeken, waar enkele van de militaire voertuigen en wapens te zien zijn die tijdens de lange en bloedige burgeroorlog zijn gebruikt. Onze gids zal zijn levenservaring tijdens deze oorlog delen.

Nice and just right day. Good restaurant. The market and the floating village are nice areas where you get to experience an authentic Cambodia.

This is my second time to Kampong Phluk but the perspective is completely different. The last time I was here was when the water covered the staircase to the house and this time we were able to walk on land. Walking throuh the "floating village" brought us closer to the people. Our guide Peter (Piset) was amazing. He is extremely knowledgable and shared great stories and history at each of the sites. I learned alot about Cambodia's history from 12th century all the way to more recent time. Peter is a living history book!

We decided to go on this trip and booked just 2 days before leaving for Cambodia. But it turned out to be the main highlight of our trip to Cambodia. Gent, our guide was excellent. He explained to us in detail the history, culture and way of life in Cambodia. He was very well informed and made our trip a super hit. This is a trip for anyone who wants to know, understand Cambodia and not just go sightseeing. Will definitely recommend this trip. We took a full day tour with Angkor Doors with tour guide Bunppeng. We took the boat ride to the floating village, visited the War Museum, the Angkor National Museum, and the Wat Thmey Killing Fields. The sites were all certainly worth the visit and we learned so much about Siem Reap beyond just the temples at Angkor Wat. The service provided by our guide was top-notch. Bunppeng not only provided us with a wealth of information about the sites we were visiting, but also shared much of his own background and family experiences living in and around Siem Reap during the turbulent years since 1975. We were grateful for all he shared with us and for his willingness to answer all our questions. If you're in Siem Reap for a few days and have done the Angkor Wat visit, this tour is a very good add-on that lets you see a lot of things all in one day, but still at a reasonable pace and for a reasonable price. Our family highly recommends this tour. And if you happen to get Bunppeng as your tour guide, then it will be even better.
