We laten je niet alleen de stad zien; we zullen het met je delen, in de ware traditie van Griekse gastvrijheid, verborgen plekjes ontdekken met verhalen te vertellen! Dit is een tour met een kleine groep beperkt tot 12 deelnemers om ervoor te zorgen dat u de aandacht van uw Gids hebt en vragen kunt stellen terwijl u gaat.

Het centrale plein van Athene wordt gedomineerd door het Griekse parlement (voorheen het Koninklijk Paleis) en wordt gekenmerkt door het hoge energieniveau dat wordt gecreëerd door de constante beweging van mensen over het drukste kruispunt van de stad.
Al ruim driekwart eeuw is dit de meest chique wijk in het centrum van de stad; dankzij de hypermoderne boetieks, chique terrasjes en gastronomische restaurants is dit de plek waar de mooie mensen van de hoofdstad elkaar ontmoeten, eten en winkelen.
Midden in het hart van Athene ligt deze politiek geladen wijk, beroemd om zijn vooruitstrevende sociale ideeën en de tientallen zeer betaalbare taverna's, bars en snackbars vol met universiteitsstudenten van de nabijgelegen onderwijsinstellingen.
Psirri was lang een wijk waar lokale ambachtslieden vanuit kleine winkeltjes werkten en is nu een van de populairste nieuwe plekken van de stad voor eten en drinken in de avond. Het is ook een van de beste plekken om de nieuwste straatkunst van de stad te bekijken.
De bibliotheek van Hadrianus, heerlijk straatvoedsel en een ondergrondse rivier verborgen in een metrostation wachten op degenen die naar dit antiek- en vlooienmarktgebied komen op zoek naar een koopje of een kijkje in een van de weinige overgebleven Ottomaanse moskeeën van de stad.

We had an incredible experience on the Unexpected Athens tour with Andreas! He was an exceptional guide who brought the history of Greece and Athens to life in a way that was both fascinating and meaningful. Andreas was extremely knowledgeable and did an amazing job connecting the past to what we see in Athens today, helping us understand the culture, people, and stories behind the city. One of our favorite parts was seeing the “real” Athens beyond the typical tourist stops. Since we already planned to visit the major monuments on another day, this tour was the perfect way to get our bearings, learn the history, and truly understand the city before exploring further on our own. By the end of the tour, we felt like we had a much deeper appreciation for Athens and Greece as a whole, and we left with a great sense of the lay of the land. Andreas was engaging, personable, and made the entire experience fun. We learned so much while also having a wonderful time. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Athens, especially if you want to go beyond the highlights and experience the city through the eyes of someone who truly knows and loves it.

This was one of the best tours we have ever been on….the weather today was cloudy, chilly and windy but our guide, Nicholas, made us not think about that!!! Our tour lasted over 4 hours and we visited areas that we would never have seen on our own….highly recommend booking this tour if given the opportunity!!!!
