Onthul Rome: Crypten, ondergrondse aquaducten en iconische monumenten

Ga met ons mee op een reis door lagen geschiedenis waarin je zowel de iconische als de ongeziene kanten van de Eeuwige Stad ontdekt. We beginnen bij de griezelige Kapucijnenkrypte, waar kunst en botten elkaar ontmoeten in een spookachtig eerbetoon. Daarna wagen we ons onder een modern winkelcentrum om een stuk van het oude Aqua Virgo aquaduct (gemaakt in 19 voor Christus!) te ontdekken. die nog steeds actief is, en we volgen het water naar de iconische Trevifontein. Later wandelen we door de steegjes van Rome naar het Pantheon, de best bewaarde heidense tempel van het oude Rome. Om onze reis af te sluiten zetten we voet op het Piazza Navona, een onvergetelijk stukje verbazingwekkende barokke schoonheid. Deze tour is meer dan een checklist, het is een diepe duik in de zichtbare glorie en het onzichtbare verleden van Rome. Met een gepassioneerde lokale gids ervaar je een balans van must-see bezienswaardigheden en off-the-beaten-path ontdekkingen, allemaal op loopafstand. Deze tour is ideaal voor avontuurlijke reizigers die verder willen kijken dan de oppervlakte van Rome.

We begeleiden je op een bezoek aan de crypte van de Kapucijner Broeders: een begraafplaats van de broeders die, in overeenstemming met hun geloofsbelijdenis, plezier maakten met de menselijke resten van hun broeders door kroonluchters en meubels te maken van de botten, waarmee ze aantoonden dat niet het materiële aspect van een individu belangrijk is, maar het spirituele.
We laten je het verborgen aquaduct zien dat vandaag de dag nog steeds water naar de Trevifontein brengt: het Virgin Aquaduct, gebouwd in 19 voor Christus! Maar om het te vinden moet je met ons mee onder de grond, naar de ingewanden van een luxe winkelcentrum.
Daarna bezoek je de beroemdste fontein ter wereld: de Trevifontein. Hier kun je een iconische foto maken en enkele van de bizarre gebeurtenissen bij de Trevifontein ontdekken.
Van buitenaf kun je een van de oudste en best bewaarde monumenten van Rome bewonderen: het Patheon. Hij denkt dat de koepel de originele is, gebouwd in 27 voor Christus en de bronzen deur stamt ook uit de Romeinse tijd. Bovendien zal onze gids hier ook de geschiedenis onthullen van een plek die vaak onbekend was bij de Romeinen zelf, wat je zal verrassen met de gebeurtenissen die daar plaatsvonden!
Tot slot bezoek je het mooiste plein van de stad: Piazza Navona. Romeinen kibbelen nog steeds over de vraag of deze of de Spaanse Trappen beter zijn, maar hier kun je de legendarische 'Fontein van de Vier Rivieren' bewonderen, gebouwd door de beroemde 17e-eeuwse kunstenaar Gian Lorenzo Bernini. Daarnaast zal onze gids ook de verborgen betekenissen van dit monument onthullen, dat ook bekend staat om zijn rol in de film 'Angels and Demons', en je vervolgens laten ontdekken wat er al sinds de tijd van de oude Romeinen onder het Piazza Navona schuilgaat.

Our “guide” unfortunately skipped 3 of the 5 locations on the itinerary: Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, and Piazza Navona. She rushed through the Museum and Crypt of the Capuchins Friars to the point that we walked by/skipped multiple exhibits / displays and received limited to no information about them. Doing the recorded listening tour from the museum itself would have been much better. After the hurried pace and skipping over half the itinerary, she ended the tour almost an hour early. When we gently asked about seeing the Trevi Fountain she simply said “no, it’s back the other way” and apparently that was that. Lastly her English proficiency was sadly lacking to the point that she couldn’t understand/answer basic questions and it was incredibly hard to understand her. This was the most disappointing excursion of our trip and we would not recommend it with the “guide” we had. We’re sure with the right guide it would be highly enjoyable but unfortunately this was not.

Unfortunately, on the day of your tour, the guide originally scheduled to accompany your group was involved in a car accident and was therefore unable to conduct the tour. Rather than cancelling the experience at the last minute, we entrusted the tour to a licensed professional tour guide with whom we had never worked before. Regrettably, despite being fully qualified, she did not meet the standards of quality that we expect from the guides representing our organization. Even more unfortunately, she informed us after the tour that everything had gone well, so we were initially unaware of the issues you experienced. As soon as we received your complaint, we immediately decided to issue a full refund because we recognized that the service provided was not consistent with the quality we strive to offer. We believe this demonstrates our commitment to treating our guests fairly and taking responsibility whenever our standards are not met. For this reason, we feel that your review does not present the full picture, as it does not mention that we acknowledged the problem and refunded the tour in full without hesitation. Once again, we sincerely apologize for this exceptional situation. We hope you will understand that this was an unforeseen emergency, and we truly hope you will give us another opportunity in the future to show you the level of service that our guests normally enjoy.
Giuseppe was a great guide. The crypts were inside a museum and the aqueduct inside a shopping mall!! Not what I expected but still a great tour. Very unique experience and we saw a part of the party of the city we had not been in.

Arrived 45 minutes early at correct meeting point. After 55 minutes tried to contact operator by web chat and got no response. Rang Viator. After about 20 mins or so on the phone it was established that tour guide didn’t know it was booked. At least we got an immediate refund! Big shame as wasted a lot of time on our short trip to Rome.
Robert I beg your pardon, you are absolutely right. But the problem was that there was a misunderstanding between the management that collects the reservations and the assignment to the guide. When you tried to contact us, I was in hospital with my wife having an accident and I could not do more, at that moment, than make you an immediate refund. Sorry for the unnecessary waiting time. Riccardo was excellent - we got a personalized tour, he is very knowledgeable and passionate about his home city. He took time to explain a lot of things, and he was patient with my mom's walking pace, as we covered enough steps to make us lose a kilo or two!!! Just kidding about weight loss - but the tour was great... Highly recommended with caveat - bring your walking shoes!!!
