Bezoek het Archeologisch Park van Dion, de belangrijkste archeologische vindplaats op de berg Olympus. In het gebied dat bestaat uit het archeologische park van Dion Sanctuaries, gevonden uit de Hellenistische en Romeinse tijd. Ontdek daarna bij het Enipeas-ravijn het klooster van Sint Dionysius. Voor de bergliefhebbers zul je betoverd worden door de indrukwekkende hellingen, de weelderige vegetatie, de pittoreske houten bruggetjes en de grote waterval van Enipeas met zijn kristalheldere stromende water. Maak bovendien een wandeling in het pittoreske dorpje Litochoro, waar ook lunchtijd is.

Het Archeologisch Park van Dion is de belangrijkste archeologische vindplaats op de berg Olympus in Griekenland, gelegen in Dion (Grieks: Δίον). In het gebied van het Archeologisch Park van Dion zijn heiligdommen gevonden uit de Hellenistische en Romeinse periode. Het park toont het belang van het oude Dion in de geschiedenis van Pieria.
Het klooster van Agios Dionysios in Olympus is een Grieks-orthodox klooster op de hellingen van de berg Olympus, het belangrijkste klooster in de prefectuur Pieria. Het ligt bij het Enipeas-ravijn op een hoogte van 850 m. Het oorspronkelijke klooster, opgericht in 1542, werd in 1943 door de Duitsers verwoest. In de buurt is er de grot van Sint Dionysius.
Enipeas, de rivier die de flanken van Mt Olympus doorkruist en dit heilige water en fantastische interactie van poelen en watervallen levert tot aan Litochoro!
Genesteld langs de uitloper van de berg Olympus, is een authentiek Macedonisch dorp bekend als Litochoro, dat dateert uit de 14e eeuw. Het is een mooie en pittoreske plek om te genieten van onze lunch met lokale Griekse gerechten.

We were very excited to take this tour, but unfortunately it was canceled by the tour operator less than 48 hours before the scheduled departure. The initial reason provided was “low availability,” though we later learned that the driver had been involved in a car accident and no replacement was available. While we understand that unexpected situations can arise, the last-minute cancellation was disappointing, especially since tour options in Thessaloniki were limited and it left us without time to make alternative plans. We were looking forward to this experience and were sorry to miss it.

The Mercedes is extremely comfortable and Janny is a great driver and Gina provided insights to the area. We were blessed with sunshine half way thru the tour. The waterfall hike and a discussion with greek priest were very memorable and spiritual! Highly recommend f 9r a personal journey!
