We ontdekken de beste bezienswaardigheden van San Salvador, waaronder het Parque Cuscatlán, een universiteitscampus, bezoeken de basiliek van el Sagrado Corazón, gaan naar de verschillende pleinen, leren Monseñor Romero kennen in de metropolitane kathedraal en zien de nieuwe bibliotheek. Terwijl we wandelen en deze plekjes ontdekken zullen we lachen, praten en proeven van Salvadoraanse gastronomische drankjes en snacks zoals pupusas, empanadas of quesadillas en Horchata. Ons team is gegroeid! Je wordt begeleid door Dave, Marcela en/of Marielos voor Spaanse tours of een van onze andere teamleden.

We zullen zien hoe de nieuwe Salvadoraanse cultuur belangstelling krijgt voor kunst, sport, orkest, muziek, enz. Dit is het begin van alles toen Bukele in 2017 begon en San Salvador een leukere plek maakte om te bezoeken. Op maandag is dit park gesloten, dus we ontmoeten elkaar bij de ingang van het park, dat zich in Alameda Franklin D. Roosevelt bevindt.
We passeren het ziekenhuisgebied, dan komen we een universiteitscampus tegen voordat we ingaan op het verhaal van onze burgeroorlog en de basiliek van Sagrado Corazon de Jesus bereiken.
We zullen zien waar de straatverkopers waren geplaatst en de recente veranderingen rond de straten van het historische centrum, toen klaar om de kilometer 0 binnen te gaan, de straatverkopers die vroeger afpersingen betaalden, hebben nu een plek om hun goederen veilig te verkopen. parkeerterreinen en zelfs foodcourts.
We komen naar het Gerrardo Barrios-plein en leggen uit waarom het zo heet en tegelijkertijd kunnen we foto's maken van de verschillende gebouwen eromheen. We zien het nationale paleis, de grootstedelijke kathedraal en de nationale bibliotheek. .
We ontdekken wanneer dit paleis werd gebouwd, wie het heeft gebouwd en wat hier in de 20e eeuw werd gehouden Tegenwoordig is het de plek waar president Bukele sinds 2019 en in 2024 zijn beëdigingsceremonie aflegt.
We bewonderen de kathedraal en ontdekken waar de Cript van Monseñor Romero is. Op dit punt begrijpen we waarom we El Salvador worden genoemd, waar we die naam voor ons land krijgen. We geven ook uitleg over het bloedbad dat plaatsvond op 30 maart 1980.
We komen naar het Morazan-plein en kunnen de schoonheid van ons Nationaal paleis bewonderen, het was een gebouw dat in de 20e eeuw werd gebouwd vanwege de koffie-export en nu kunnen we genieten van de prachtige shows die ze daar houden.
We komen tot het hart van Centro Historico en leggen uit waarom we het kilometer 0 noemen, natuurlijk hangt elke straat en laan af van deze plek, dit is een leuke plek om foto's te maken, want voorheen vermeden we hier te komen vanwege de gevaarlijke straten en nu vinden we het leuk om ze te bezoeken.
eindigen we met de wandeltocht in de leukste bibliotheek van Latijns Amerika, met frisse airco en een blik op de verschillende boeken en spelletjes met een spectaculair uitzicht op het historische centrum. Naast deze bibliotheek zien we de nieuwe Centraal-Amerikaanse tuin die in slechts een week werd aangelegd met een prachtige waterfontein. ******************* Eindpunt ligt op 3 kilometer afstand van Startpunt. U kunt ofwel parkeren bij Mercado Cuscatlán in startpunt als u een auto meebrengt. Of u kunt parkeren bij Estacionamiento Morazán bij eindpunt. ************************

Dave Mendez’s walking tour was excellent! He’s a passionate local guide who gave us the perfect lay of the land and helped us truly learn about San Salvador’s history, culture, and vibrant present. We explored landmarks, parks, the markets, and lively streets while he shared insightful stories that made everything click. A highlight was sipping refreshing horchata, creamy, cinnamon-spiced, and ideal on a warm day. The tour felt safe, engaging, and fun. Highly recommend for first-timers! 10/10. Thanks, Dave! This was a very information and fun way to see San Salvador. Dave is very knowledgeable about the country, its history, challenges. He gives a very good understanding of how the country has recovered from a dark past. And he makes you very excited about the good initiatives that will improve the lives of its citizens. The hospital area was included in that topic. I think it should be skipped. If people are interested, this should be a separate tour.
My tour guide Dave was awesome! He took us around all over San Salvador. He talked to us about the history of health, education, economy and passed by historical location as well as local shops to try some treats. He was so outgoing and such a nice guy. Definitely recommend!

Adrian was great! He was very enthusiastic.
The guide was not Dave, but someone else whose name began with a V or B (I couldn’t catch it). He spoke good English. He was nice and not creepy with three ladies. But he wasted a lot of time asking poorly thought-out questions. I’d guess that 20-30 minutes of the tour might have been spent on these efforts at Socratic guiding, asking essentially unanswerable questions that wasted time. He also gave some information with confidence that didn’t seem correct, particularly when referencing countries outside El Salvador. So I’ve had more informative tours. He also arrived 10 minutes late.

The guide’s positive energy is good. I booked the 16:30 tour thinking it will make the walking tour in hot climate easier. But we spent 2 hours till we made it to Basilica Sagrada and we just skipped it. No mention of it. There were unnecessarily long stops for snacks and beverages. If you are looking to meet other people, this is a tour but nothing else. All the rest you can visit yourself.
I am really sorry about the inconveniences, unfortunately you left before but we had the last hour to discover all the emblematic buildings. Of course we talk about the history of the country, the gangs in the past, the civil war, the current situation in the country, sorry you miss.the last hour, for architecture, the present and the future of El Salvador. That is why the tour is 3 hrs not 2.
