Bandra West wordt in Mumbai vaak de "Koningin van de buitenwijken" genoemd. De aantrekkingskracht van internationale invloeden en liberale houdingen heeft massa's beroemdheden, modellen, muzikanten, hipsters en expats naar deze veelzijdige buurt getrokken. Op zijn beurt is er een gestage stroom van stijlvolle nieuwe restaurants, bars en boetieks geopend om tegemoet te komen aan hun kosmopolitische levensstijl. Bandra West omvat zowel de geschiedenis van de buurt als de huidige trends. Een ideale wandeltocht voor diegenen die het Portugese verleden van Bandra willen ontdekken - van forten en kerken tot Indo-Portugese katholieke dorpen - samen met een glimp van de geschiedenis uit andere periodes.

St. Andrew's Church is een van de oudste kerken in Mumbai. Het werd oorspronkelijk gebouwd door Portugese jezuïeten in 1575. Het staat aan de kust van de Bandra-buitenwijk van Mumbai en was de enige kerk daar tot het eerste kwart van de 17e eeuw.
Ranwar is het origineel van de 24 pakhadi's, of dorpen, waaruit Bandra bestond. Toen de Britten Bombay in 1661 van de Portugezen wegnamen, kregen ze niet meteen de controle.
In tegenstelling tot zijn gelukkige broer Ranwar, staat dit dorp ver af van de ontwikkeling of de kunstscène waar Bandra beroemd om is. Hoewel het in de buurt van Bandstand ligt met zijn chique bungalows en hoge gebouwen, is dit dorp onverzorgd en onverzorgd. De weinige oorspronkelijke bewoners van Bandra of Mumbai in het algemeen, de Koli-gemeenschap (Chimbaikars) zijn hier nog steeds te vinden.
De Basiliek van Onze-Lieve-Vrouw van de Berg, beter bekend als Mount Mary Church, is een rooms-katholieke basiliek in Bandra, Mumbai. Het feest van de Heilige Maagd Maria wordt hier gevierd op de eerste zondag na 8 september, de verjaardag van de Maagd Maria
Op het puntje van Bandra West liggen de overblijfselen van een 17e-eeuws fort dat door de Portugezen werd gebouwd als uitkijktoren. Het was strategisch gelegen om uit te kijken over Mahim Bay, maar biedt nu een uitstekend uitkijkpunt voor het bekijken van de historische Bandra-Worli Sea Link-brug.
Castella de Aguada, ook wel bekend als het Bandra-fort, is een fort in Bandra, Mumbai. "Castella" is een spelfout voor Portugees "Castelo", hoewel het erop lijkt dat de Portugese bouwers het Forte de Bandorá noemden. Het is gelegen aan Land's End in Bandra

A recommendation when you want a (first) view of Bandra. We took this tour with Ruchita to have a first glimpse of Bandra. Now we know where to go for a drink, a nice view or a good strawl through the neighbourhood. Ruchita was very friendly, funny and was very hospitable.

Wonderful walking tour of two of the villages in Bandra with Krishna. She is an excellent story teller and has an engaging personality which made the tour a lot of fun, in spite of the Mumbai heat!

Krishna was a fantastic guide, and did a wonderful job showing us the beautiful area of Bandra, teaching us all about its complex history along the way. Timing of 4pm was also great, as it was the perfect temperature and mood, with the sun setting. Highly recommend!

Sanika was a friendly, happy and obviously well-informed guide. She always seemed to know more than was required - which we got to know when we asked her questions. And we asked her many. Instead of telling us to 'shut up and listen', she was delighted, and after answering our questions, said "I've never had anyone asking me so many questions. I really love this. "! She also seemed socially aware and a fighter for the underdog. Her love for the Kohli fisherfolk was touching, especially when they waved out to her, chatted with her, and even asked us to come there again at Christmas time, to see their Christmas tree made of fishing nets. Despite having lived in Bombay most of my life, I am unfortunately not very well-versed with it's history. I opted for this tour along with my husband and 12 year old son to understand more about the heritage of one of my favourite areas in the city i.e. Bandra. It was a great experience. Sanika, our guide, did a remarkable job of explaining the history of Bandra and told us lots of trivia about the area. She patiently answered questions, guided us through the bylanes of Bandra and took pictures whenever wé requested. My son, who was not interested in joining at all since he presumed it would be boring, had a really great time. He is in fact,looking forward to joining in for more such tours, as am I.
