Ondergronds aquaduct Trevifontein en Spaanse Trappen Tour

Dit is een kleine en intieme groepswandeltocht van maximaal 12 personen. We beginnen met de Spaanse trappen, waar je alles over ze leert en waarom ze zo heten (je zult verbaasd zijn!). Bij de Spaanse trappen ontmoeten we de eerste fontein van de tour. Hier beginnen we aan een reis door de aquaducten van Rome! In feite wordt deze fontein nog steeds gevoed door een oud Romeins aquaduct gebouwd in 19 v.Chr.! Vanaf hier volgen we het aquaduct dat grotendeels ondergronds ligt. En door terloops door deze route te lopen zien we delen van het aquaduct verschijnen tussen de moderne gebouwen. We volgen het aquaduct tot het monumentale einde: de Trevifontein. Maar we stoppen hier niet. We ontsnappen aan de drukte, gaan de hoek om en ontdekken het ondergrondse waterreservoir dat de oude Romeinen meer dan 2000 jaar geleden bouwden! Tijdens deze wandeltocht zie je niet alleen de specifieke site, maar leer je ook hoe het moderne Rome rond de oude ruïnes is gebouwd.

Hier ontmoeten we elkaar en beginnen we aan onze tour! Je leert wat Piazza di Spagna vandaag de dag voor de Romeinen is, evenals de geschiedenis van hoe het werd zoals het nu is. De glamoureuze kant van Rome sinds de oude Romeinse tijd tot vandaag. Hier leer je ook dat de Spaanse Trappen helemaal niet Spaans zijn! Je zult verrast zijn om te horen waarom. Daarna leren we over de iconische fontein van la Barcaccia, die nog steeds wordt gevoed door een oud Romeins aquaduct van meer dan 2000 jaar! En hier begint onze reis door het water..

Hier beginnen we delen van het aquaduct zichtbaar te zien boven de grond, evenals een mysterieuze deur ernaast.
Dit is een warenhuis.. maar we zijn hier niet om te winkelen! Je zult leren dat vrijwel alles in Rome in een museum kan veranderen, omdat de moderne stad letterlijk bovenop de oude is gebouwd! Onder de grond van dit winkelcentrum zullen we zelfs de ruïnes zien van het enige oude Romeinse aquaduct dat nog steeds functioneert!
De iconische Trevifontein, een van de meest gefotografeerde plekken in Rome. Maar hoeveel mensen kennen de betekenis ervan? Je leert over de legendes en verhalen die hand in hand gaan met de fontein, sinds de oude Romeinse tijd tot vandaag.
Hier leer je waar al het water van de Trevifontein vandaan komt! We lopen ondergronds om de oude watertank van het aquaduct uit 19 v.Chr. te verkennen! Deze plek is zo'n "lasagne" van de geschiedenis, met lagen gebouwen en huizen van mensen die hier door de eeuwen heen hebben gewoond. Mensen zoals wij vandaag..

Interesting tour, not enough time underground. Don't go in summer, too crowded, but overall very good.

The guide was amazing. He knows his subject perfectly and he was very interesting. The only deception was the underground, I was hopping for the Trevi fountain underground, but it's somewhere else. Still very interesting.

I was expecting seeing the underground of the trevi fountain, but it's not that underground. It still very interesting and worth it. I would do it again!

We had Virginia as our guide, she was good and had lots of knowledge about all the things on the tour. It was a very hot day, so the “mall” part where you get to see some of the Aqueducts behind the housewares dept on the lower level was unexpected but the cold air was nice. She did a great job explaining everything but even she said that our time at the Trevi Fountain was more crowded than she expected so we didn’t spend much time there, although she pointed out some hidden funny aspects like lizards carved into it, so I appreciated that. She said we could come back on our own time to look at it further. Then we went to the main museum of the aqueducts and that was very cool. She had lots of interesting facts to pass along and you can tell she is very passionate about it. This was a good tour and I would recommend it.

While we give you all the information and the stories you need to know about the Trevi fountain, that little extra time you might want to take for pictures and the coin toss ritual is something that is more suitable for when you’re on your own, so that you can do it at your own pace 😊 the tour ends nearby, so you can easily go back to the fountain.
