Deze tour is de perfecte uitbreiding op onze Classic City Tour en omvat de zuidelijke delen van "Old Town" die niet worden bezocht op klassieke tours, en het kasteel. Het is een heerlijke mix van geschiedenis, legende en middeleeuwse traditie. Zoals gewoonlijk ontmoeten we elkaar op het Preserenplein, van waaruit we rechtstreeks naar de binnenplaats van het stadhuis lopen om boeiende verhalen te horen over vervlogen tijden en de clowns die de show leidden. We vervolgen onze weg langs de oude binnenstad en passeren onderweg verschillende bezienswaardigheden, voordat we aankomen bij de Herculesfontein op het Oude Stadsplein. Vanaf daar lopen we de oudste weg van Ljubljana (16e eeuw) op en klimmen te voet naar het kasteel (gemakkelijk 12 minuten lopen, geen optie voor kabelbaan vanaf deze kant van de heuvel), met andere bezienswaardigheden en uitzichtpunten op de weg. We eindigen in het kasteel, waar we de binnenplaats, verschillende zalen, kerkers, de kapel en de muren bezoeken voor het beste uitzicht op de stad. Het is een heerlijke tour vol fascinerende inhoud. We bezoeken het oudste huis van Ljublojan en leren over middeleeuwse straatmarkten. We bekijken ook de gekke schedels artistieke fontein.
We lopen de hele Old Town Road, stoppen bij opmerkelijke gebouwen, tot aan de Neptunusfontein
Bezoek Ljubljana's oudste weg en huizen uit de 16e eeuw.
Bezoek de kerk en leer meer over de branden van St. FLorian & Ljubljana.
Bezoek de trots en vreugde van het middeleeuwse Ljubljana. Nter de binnenplaats, loop over de muren, bezoek ondergrondse kerkers, krijgerstorens en meer.

The tour of the old town and the castle was a very special experience. Our guide Domen presented the history of the Middle Ages in a very professional, interesting, and also humorous way, so the whole tour took place in a really pleasant atmosphere. At the same time, I was wondering why there was not even a short mention of the churches we had the opportunity to see, as they represent an important part of the city’s history and identity. Lucy our tour guide was fantastic and very knowledgeable. Even in the pouring rain no one left the tour. I would recommend this tour if you visit Ljubljana.

A absolute must do in Ljubljana. Voyka was so enthusiastic to share stories from the medieval times which gave a good insight to the story. Loved the hike up to the castle.

I happened to find out about the Ljublijana Free Walking Tour from the Ljublijana Tourist Office and registered on the Ljublijana Free Tour website. I attended the Old Town and Castle Group Tour on Friday 5th September solo for the afternoon session, which was hosted by a very dynamic, friendly and knowledgeable tour guide called Lucy. The group itself was approximately 12 - 15 people, which was just the right size. Everyone met outside the Pink church in the main central square. Lucy paced the tour well, stopping at various places of interest, explaining the historical significance of buildings and statues, in a fun way involving the tourists. The highlight of the tour was walking up to the castle and appreciating the views of the castle. I was very impressed with how much preparation and energy Lucy brought to the tour she kindly arranged, considering it was free of charge! Of course I paid a donation to her at the end of the tour, for the entertaining tour she organised, as did many of the other tourists. I definitely recommend attending the Ljubljana free tours. which is a fun way to interactively explore the city with other tourists and the tour guide, whether a tourist attends solo or with family friends. 10/10 !
