De Old Goa Heritage Walk behandelt enkele van de meest fascinerende feiten tijdens de Portugese overheersing. Toen Oud Goa de voormalige hoofdstad van Goa was, was het al tijdens de Portugese tijd een bloeiende stad. Het was de hoofdstad van het Bahmani Sultan Adil Shah rijk. De Portugezen arriveerden hier in 1510 under hun commandant Afonso de Albuquerque, en veroverden de stad op Adil Shah, de heerser van het Bijapur Koninkrijk. Ze kwamen naar het Oosten op zoek naar handel en om uiteindelijk het christendom te verspreiden. Verken tijdens onze Old Goa Heritage Walk enkele van de meest historisch belangrijke gebouwen. Het oude Goa staat op de Werelderfgoedlijst en huisvest enkele van de grootste en oudste kerken in de regio. Speciale opmerking : Houd er rekening mee dat op bepaalde dagen, wanneer de Se Kathedraal of Basiliek van Bom Jesus niet toegankelijk is vanwege massadiensten, we een bezoek aan de majestueuze Onze-Lieve-Vrouw van Rozenkranskerk op de historische Heilige Heuvel zullen opnemen als onderdeel van de Oude Goa Heritage Walk.

Excellent tour of old Goa. Our guide Yashasvi (Yash) was outstanding. She’s a history buff not just limited to Goa which was helpful to gain a wider perspective. She also had useful tips on areas and aspects not covered by the tour. The pace was just right and the weather was kind to us! I strongly recommend this tour for an insight into medieval Goan history and ask for Yash, of course.

I happened to be the only person on the tour, but Calvin made me feel completely at ease from the very beginning.
