We beginnen onze tour met een korte wandeling over het prachtige Ile de la Cite, een eiland in de rivier de Seine dat de thuisbasis is van enkele van de beste middeleeuwse en gotische architectuur in Parijs, waaronder natuurlijk de Notre Dame-kathedraal.

Our party of five had a really excellent tour of Notre Dame on Wednesday 20 May and which included the history of the Isle and the adjacent south and North banks of the Seine. Stan, our guide, could not have been more interesting and helpful. His excellent English helped us to understand the complex history of Paris and France and his enthusiasm for and knowledge of his subject could not have been bettered. We felt very privileged to have had Stan with us for this guided tour. We were, of course, incredibly impressed with what has been accomplished at Notre Dame. For France this was an almost impossible dream when started and to have completed the work in such a comprehensive way in such a short time must be one of the major world achievements of our time. Please pass on to Stan our very best wishes and thanks. You might also tell him that we took his advice and visited a very atmospheric creperie where the buckwheat crepes were magnificent.

4 of us could not find our guide and none of the officials/ushers could help us. We did not get the tour we paid for. We asked for a refund but they refused. Very disappointed in their communications both before and after our bad situation.
Our small group tour ended up being a private one, which was such a pleasant surprise. Fanny was incredibly knowledgeable and engaging. We even got a short walking tour around the Notre Dame area before going inside, which made the experience even better. We’ve been looking forward to seeing the inside of Notre Dame for a long time, and I’m so glad it’s finally open. Having someone like Fanny to guide us through the church made it even more special.
