Begin uw reis met een bezoek aan Nizwa, een van de historische steden van Oman. Verken de levendige Nizwa Souq, voordat u het iconische Nizwa Fort bezoekt, een 17e-eeuws architectonisch meesterwerk met een panoramisch uitzicht over de oude stad. De site van een van de oudste soeks van het land, deze uitgebreide marktplaats is voornamelijk gewijd aan groenten en fruit, vlees en vis, die allemaal zijn gehuisvest in afzonderlijke blokken achter de grote, gekanteelde stadsmuur die uitkijkt op de wadi. Een deel van de souq (het dichtst bij het fort) is gewijd aan handwerk en richt zich speciaal op de passerende toeristenindustrie.
Nizwa Fort - het meest bezochte monument van Oman. Het fort werd bijna 370 jaar geleden gebouwd en het is gebaseerd op de stroom water eronder. Zeker, het is een van de beste kastelen uit die periode die het bekijken waard is. Daarna gaan we naar Nizwa Souq. Op de markt kunt u traditionele messen, potten en andere unieke items kopen.
De hoogste berg van Oman, Jebel Shams (berg van de zon; 3009 m), is het best bekend om zijn top, maar niet om het uitzicht op de spectaculair diepe Wadi Ghul die ernaast ligt. De rechtzijdige Wadi Ghul staat lokaal bekend als de Grand Canyon van Arabië, omdat deze abrupt scheurt tussen de vlakke canyon-randen en verticale kliffen van 1000 m en meer blootlegt.

Nizwa was good with souq and fort being the main highlights. Jabal Shams was okay if you have already been to high view points. Guide was very helpful and overall trip was comfortable.

Great experience & Ahmed is a wonderful tour guide! He's very friendly, told us all about Oman and answered any and all questions we had. Was a pleasure to spend time with him, and also we had a great group of travelers. The fort is amazing, and so is the souk. The best souk I've ever been to! A long day in the car. Castle and markets were interesting. View from the canyon is quite spectacular and the drive up to it is also an experience. Good full day out.

Had a fantastic day with Asaad and a couple from France. Another Italian was supposed to come along but he had gone with another group. Left a bit later than planned so we changed the program and went first to Jebel Shams and then to Nizwa. In retrospect, I think much more fun! Asaad spoke good English and told along the way much, very nice! Enjoyed the views at Jebel Shams. Then lunch and to Nizwa Fort & Castle and finally to the souk. Asaad let us taste many local dishes and there was always coffee & dates. Super enjoyed this day 😃
We had the pleasure of visiting Nizwa fort and souk along with Jebel Shams with tour guide Abdullah A. He was warm, knowledgeable and a lot of fun to be with. He informed us about local customs and history which made our experience more meaningful. Nizwa fort was a place to explore Omani culture. The view from Jebel Shams was breath taking. Lunch was a sumptuous shared meal which allowed us to taste various dishes, in keeping with the local tradition. Overall, would highly recommend this tour.
A long day… but worth it. Nizwa is a cool experience. A bit commercial in places, but the old souq and fort are great. The real gem is the canyon. Truly spectacular!

I had a wonderful experience on this tour. As a solo female traveller I was quite nervous but Khalil and the group were wonderful. I was picked up and dropped off to my hotel in a 4x4. There were three other people in the car and they were wonderful. There were plenty of rest breaks given, water was supplied along with refreshments and lunch. Khalil the tour guide kept the group entertained and I really felt the omani hospitality. Nizwa was amazing and I enjoyed jebel shams as well.
