Dit Rose Hall Great House is een vroeg 18e-eeuws plantagehuis op een grote hoogte op duizenden hectaren in Rose Hall, Montego Bay. The Rose Hall Great House was ooit het eigendom van de beroemde en zeker een van de slechtste plantage-eigenaren om het land van Jamaica, Annie Palmer, te bewandelen. Ze bezat honderden slaven. Dit huis werd achtervolgd na haar gruwelijke dood in 1831. Het huis is eng om naar te kijken, zelfs overdag. Er is geen stop bij het Rose all Great House op weg naar Negril, maar uw gids vertelt u de geschiedenis en vertraagt zodat u foto's kunt maken.
Deze tour neemt je mee door een van de meest populaire steden op het eiland. Runaway Bay is van nature mooi en is zeker een van de meest schilderachtige gebieden in Jamaica. Het ligt tussen de prachtige, frisse kustlijn aan de ene kant en de weelderige groene bergen naar de andere kant. Er is veel discussie over hoe de stad Runaway Bay zijn naam kreeg. sommige mensen geloven dat het de naam kreeg omdat daar de laatste groep Spaanse soldaten wegliepen van toen ze zich terugtrokken van de aanvallende Britse troepen onder leiding van gouverneur Ysassi direct na de 1655 Britse invasie van Jamaica, terwijl anderen beweerden dat dit het punt was van waaruit de slaven van binnenlandse plantages gebruikten als ontsnappingsroute naar een wegloper naar Cuba. Zet je camera's klaar om te gaan terwijl je je een weg baant door dit gebied.
Bob Marley werd geboren op 6 februari 1945. Hij stierf op 11 mei 1981. Het bezoeken van deze kleine stad is een prioriteit voor alle toeristen, cruiseschepen en tussenreizigers zowel van Ocho Rios, Falmouth, Montego Bay en van zover als Negril in het westen. Nine Miles is een klein dorpje in de heuvels van St. Ann, waar de reggae-legende Bob Marley is geboren, en passend, de plek waar hij nu ligt te rusten. Hoewel Bob Marley op 13-jarige leeftijd naar Kingston verhuisde om bij zijn moeder te wonen en om zijn muziekcarrière vooruit te helpen, keerde hij vaak terug naar Nine Miles om uit het snelle leven van Kingston te geraken. Thuis is waar het hart is en Bob Marley schreef een aantal van zijn hitnummers toen hij in St. Ann was. Bezoek de nabijgelegen Ethiopische kerk, waar zijn lichaam werd gelegd om te rusten met zijn gitaar. Verwijder uw schoenen voordat u binnengaat als een teken van respect. Kijk gerust rond. Na Nine Mile Tour is er een stop voor de lunch in een van onze lokale jerk chicken-restaurants.
De wereldberoemde Dunns River Falls is ongetwijfeld de meest zachtaardige en mooie waterval. Ondertussen zou je je zwemkleding moeten dragen, dus alles wat je hoeft te doen is je ingecheckt te krijgen, je plaatselijke gids te ontmoeten, de briefing te doorlopen, het ontheffingsformulier te ondertekenen en verder te gaan met het leuke bij de hand. Er zijn professionele fotografen gestationeerd in Dunns River die je tijdens je reis zullen vergezellen - je kunt je foto's aan het einde kopen als je dat wilt, maar neem gerust je waterdichte camera's mee en je Falls Guide helpt je bij het maken van foto's. Je wandeling naar het startpunt is ongeveer 2 minuten naar het strand waar je de 600ft begint. (183 meter) klimmen. Wees voorbereid op het koele, verfrissende water dat voor de eerste keer je lichaam raakt. Je totale tijd bij Dunns River Falls zal ongeveer zijn. 1 uur en 45 minuten. Als je de klim niet kunt voltooien, is dit geen probleem - er zijn onderweg afritpunten om te stoppen. Aarzel niet om je gids te vragen om alleen maar te wijzen op de gebieden van de watervallen die te zien waren in de James Bond-film (Doctor No). Ga alsjeblieft rechtstreeks naar de bus zodra de klim voltooid is.
In de stad Discovery Bay vindt u Columbus Park. Het werd oorspronkelijk genoemd Puerto Seco ("Droge Haven") door Christoffel Colombus in 1494 toen hij en zijn mannen op het Eiland landden. Er wordt gezegd dat het geen fris water kon vinden om te drinken. Ze vonden later vers water in een ander gebied ongeveer 5 mijl ten westen van de stad. Het water was zo goed dat ze de locatie noemden waar het Rio Bueno ("Goede Rivier") vond. De stad Puerto Seco werd later echter in 1947 omgedoopt tot Discovery Bay omdat Discovery Bay de plaats was waar de Spanjaarden onder leiding van Christopher Columbus landden toen ze het eiland binnenvielen op 4 mei 1494. Er is een park met verschillende oude relikwieën en artefacten op display. Er zal een korte stop zijn om foto's te maken en de rijke geschiedenis van deze historische stad vast te leggen.
Het Greenwood Great House (plantagehuis) werd gebouwd in de vroege 18e eeuw. Zoals de meeste, zo niet alle andere grote huizen in Jamaica, werd het Greenwood Great House op grote hoogte gebouwd. Je zou kunnen zeggen dat dit een strategie was die al in het plantagetijdperk werd gebruikt om de plantage over het hoofd te zien en ook voor veiligheidsdoeleinden. Dit huis, in tegenstelling tot de Rose Hall Great House, is niet spookachtig, maar van een meer rustige en ontspannen sfeer. De geschiedenis en de architectuur van het huis zullen u versteld doen staan. Terwijl je langskomt, kun je foto's maken wanneer je gids langzamer wordt.

They cancelled before we got to go. Sent an email the day before we were supposed to go. Next time I will book elsewhere which is what we did.
Could NOT be in Jamaica and miss the chance to Go to Nine Mile!! If you have Luv for Bob it's a Must!
Clive was an excellent guide. Very personable and he pointed out a lot of cool stuff along the way. This tour was A+. Got to see bob marleys final resting place and the falls were lot of fun. Action packed day. Got to see some of real Jamaica along the way as well. I highly recommend this tour
The Falls fantastic. You stop enroute to buy shoes and phone protection. It's a MUST. Shoes were $10. Lunch. Lovely setting by the beach. Chicken and rice/salad. Fruit punch. Then 1hr 30mins up to Nine Mile, steep winding road, pot holed. Then, it is quite intimidating arrival, ushered into a den where marijuana items are offered to you whilst seated on a dirt step. Then, across the road to the Bob Marley tour. Make sure you take lots of tip money as in at least THREE places you'll be hassled to tip. The band for a few songs, the priest, when he takes two minutes to read a sermon in a chapel, and the guide who will stand with his hand out. Then at least a 2 hour drive back to Montego Bay.

Everything was wonderful. Jeremain was an excellent tour guide. It exceeded our expectations. Nine mile was my favorite part of the excursion.
So we booked this trip from Negril and it is 6 hours of traveling at least in a bus with air conditioning. It was nice to see some of the other resorts along the way and the greenery was spectacular. The stop at the duty free was nice as we needed the bathroom but I feel as if it could be done at a local spot rather than immigrants who have set up shop to make a buck and ship it out of Jamaica. I refused to spend any money there other than the water from the bar away from the "cheap" store. I've been to Dunn's River before and it is always magical. Great time and fantastic tour guide. The lunch was good as I was craving Festival since getting to Jamaica but it would be better to go to the famous Scotchie's rather than the place we went to as seeing them make the Jerk on the tin roof burners was more of a cultural thing than seeing the buffet on plastic chairs. The highlight of the trip was nine mile but wait to buy any smokes until you get inside as you can get 3 for $20 rather than the 1 "premium" for $25. But the cake was WELL worth the money. Have some as you get into the tour and when you get on the bus to go home you pass out and the trip home is A LOT quicker..lol Inside nine mile was amazing, seeing everything that you read about, learning the history and having the flaming shot at the bar as my wife did just so she could get the collector shot glass. I know this isn't the fault of the driver but on the way home our bus was hit by a taxi at a gas station and to see how unprofessional the bus driver was and the potential hazard that he put us in was not the way to finish the trip. We had our phones out to film the fight as it was almost at that point.

We do not offer this day trip from Negril for the very fact that it is going to be a very long day so I am wondering if an error was made with the company that you traveled with or did you meet up with us in Montego Bay. We do our first pick up for this trip in Montego Bay and that would not be a 6 hours trip. Jamaica is the third largest Island in the Caribbean - it is very large and take a lot of time to travel around especially if you are staying in Negril. It is not always easy to find appropriate places to do restroom stops especially when traveling through the mountains so instead of having persons go in the bushes companies will recommend that the drivers make the most convenient stop. The same thing goes for the lunch stops. Lunch stop on some trips will depend on where the tour takes you and if Scotchies is within reach. We also do not want to have our customers out all day not having anything to eat so again, we suggest that our crew stop at one of the most appropriate places to have lunch - taking into consideration the some of our customers might have to eat at specific times for specific reasons. Been in the business for many years and having lots of experiences on how the business work we always try to be proactive by giving early notice to our customers that book certain products. We did not intend to cancel 2 days before. We wanted to find out if in the event that we do not meet the minimum number of persons for the particular trip, if it would be possible to reschedule, choose another product or upgrade to a private tour. If we try to communicate early and the customer, out of fear of not getting to do the trip because of low numbers, decide to cancel, we have no choice but to oblige since we would not want to nor force our customers to go against their wishes. Our tour guides picked us up on time as we had 3 more hotels to pick up from. The tour guide Tishe was informative on the way. We went to Dunn River Falls first which was never mentioned when booked. We were there for 45 minutes and the changing of clothes was so rushed that we had to change from our wet swimming gear into our clothes in the toilet of the “restaurant “ we went to for lunch. Why we couldn’t change in the changing rooms is beyond me. Wished we could of spent a little more time in Dunn’s River Falls. Lunch was fairly pleasant although it had no air conditioning and is more for the locals. Bob Marley’s tour was really good and was a bumpy ride. The guide we had for the tour was very informative and funny. Was well worth going there, especially seeing Bob Marley’s mausoleum was very emotional. Tishe the guide with us, took us straight to the marijuana sellers which may be fine for some people but I was with my teenage children so I really wished she only took the people who wanted to go. All in all it was a good trip but too many people wanting tips especially as I paid nearly £500 for my family for this trip. Tishe and the driver Jeffrey hardly said two words on the way back not even bye or thanks for the tips they received from all of us.
