Night Reindeer Rodelen met kamp Dinner en Chance of Northern Lights

De rendieren en de Sami leven en werken al eeuwen op dit land en hebben pas sinds kort gasten uitgenodigd om deel uit te maken van hun dagelijks leven. Je bezoekt hun kamp en krijgt de kans om de kudde van ongeveer 300 wilde rendieren te voeren die overal rondzwermen en sommigen zullen zelfs uit je handen eten. Je zult ook genieten van een rit van 15-20 minuten met de slee getrokken door de rendieren. Je wordt dan uitgenodigd voor warme dranken rond het vuur in een warm kaarslicht (traditionele Sami Hut) waar een ontspannen driegangenmenu wordt geserveerd, inclusief bido's gekookt boven het open vuur (een traditionele Sami-stoofpot). Na het diner word je uitgenodigd in een lavvu (Sami-tent) en verzamel je rond het vuur om te luisteren naar verhalen over de Samische cultuur en hoe het is om een rendierherder te zijn. De Sami-gids zal ook een joik (traditioneel Samisch lied) uitvoeren voor de gasten. Als je geluk hebt en de lucht helder is, heb je de kans om het noorderlicht boven het rendierkamp te zien.

If there is one tour you should definitely do if you are in Tromso, it is this. You can't help but do it, starting from the fact that you will meet real Sami people, who will make you fall in love with their culture and history, passing among reindeer and feeding them is too much fun and unique experience that makes this experience truly something unique. The delicious dinner served closes the circle. The only cons is that it lasts a while, I would have preferred to stay just half an hour longer or even an hour, to try to see if a bit of Northern Lights came out. N.B. If you book in months not really winter probably the sled will not make you do it because the snow may be little

What a brilliant night. Well organised, superb experience, excellent staff and local Sami guides - and best of all - the Northern Lights put on a show for us. Highly recommend this excursion if you are in Tromso.

Wonderful tour. Loved the time with the reindeer. Staff all very helpful and knowledgeable. The food was so good and the stories and songs very entertaining. Highly recommend this tour.

Wonderful. We went for the Reindeer and the Sami culture. We got actually what we wanted 😊. Mother Nature gave us rain but we gained much more in the experience. All ages can experience and enjoy. No matter the weather. Life grows with seeing in person.

This could have been organised better. We were put on a bus with no explanation and drove off. We had no idea where we were going and how long it would take to get there. You need a tour guide on board or at least an explanation on boarding. We then fed the reindeer and waited for our sleigh tour. This left a lot of space for another possible activity which was wasted. The meal was very poor, just a bowl of soup. We were all hungry and bought some food when we returned to Tromso. The explanation of the culture was excellent though. At the end we were rushed on to the buses with no opportunity to see the Northern Lights which were out there. Would I go again -- no, a lot of money but should be better organised

This way everyone can follow along and learn about the experience at their own pace during the transfer. The evening usually includes time to feed the reindeer, enjoy the sledding, have a 3-course dinner, admire the magical display of Aurora depending on the weather conditions, and gather by the fire to hear stories about Sami culture and traditions. After a short bus journey, we arrived at the camp, greeted by Ana and Luna. After a brief introduction to the evening, we were sent to feed some reindeer and take part in some reindeer sledding! Both activities were great fun (the female reindeer prodding at you gently with their antlers to get access to your feed buckets was funny and the short sledding trip was nice under the night sky). We then had hot beverages (tea/coffee/hot chocolate) and were offered the 3 course meal (I had the vegetarian option which was nice). The meal was slightly interrupted in the best way - the Aurora came out and was beautiful in the sky. The last part of the evening was spent listening to our Sami guides tell us more about their culture, the reindeer and answering any of our questions. I definitely recommend this trip!

Absolutely fantastic experience- the staff were so friendly and informative. We were also lucky enough to see the Aurora and there were plenty of opportunities to watch and take photos. The reindeer were very well looked after and really enjoyed getting to feed them and see more about their little personalities (some sassier than others). Would recommend this trip to anyone!

Great experience, really enjoyed hearing more about Sami culture. Feeding the reindeers was fun, and we were lucky enough to see some auroras whilst there!

5 stars for the very warm and engaging Luna, who sang for us and explained the very interesting history of the Sami people! Unfortunately the reindeer sledding and feeding were quite underwhelming and disappointing as we just sat on a sled and slowly inched a circle around the feeding area in the dark.
